We replaced some junky wall lanterns that had been on our house forever. These are beautiful (just as pictured) and they mount solidly to the wall. The capped bolts that you see on the outside (left and right of light) are included, but they expect you to use the electrical box bolts from your old lights. Well, ours were too rusted to be reliable. I had tons of bolts, but not the right size! Grrrr. So this added a trip to the hardware store for me.

We mounted these by our main entrance, and the smaller model (8037-71: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002X802A/) on either side of our garage. Experience so far is that they stay much cleaner than enclosed lights.

These were installed in our home in 2005. I only purchase SOLID brass. Just having polished brass eventually looks like garbage, and unfortunately, these do look like garbage and started tarnishing in 2006. I used a quality polish that is specifically for brass. These are NOT SOLID brass. Shame on Sea Gull Lighting for continuing to advertise as such. I tried having mine refunded, but since a builder installed them, Sea Gull said I have to go through the builder. In fact, at the time, Sea Gull also said these were not available to the general public.

Bottom line, don't purchase Sea Gull if you want a quality solid brass.

The shade looks great and fits the antique lamp fixture. However, there was no "threading" in the lampshade to hold it in place. It's actually the lightbulb that holds it on, but it can still spin on the metal bulb housing.

I was looking for an interesting, asian-inspired fixture without breaking my budget. This fit the bill. I like the look. Quality is perhaps a little bit lower than I'd like (some angles are a hair off of true, but not very noticable), but not at all bad for the price. Installation was slightly harder than I'd like -some of the holes for the set screws that hold the fixture to the wall plate were slightly misaligned, so it was harder to get the screws in than it should be, but not a huge deal. So, not perfect, but the price was right and I like the result.

We purchased 3 of these lights for all 3 bathrooms. One of the piece had defective glass piece as it was not going in, but lampsplus was prompt in shipping us extra glass plates. We are enjoying these pieces.

Had I read the manual when I got a simple electric stuff? No, I had not.

When I received this item I tried to switch on the lamp, it didn't work. I pushed on everywhere, and I even tried to slide my hand over it. And somehow it was on. What did I do???

Finally I decided to read the manual. It said touch once, twice...etc. Uhm! I now understood where to press. But still It didn't work for me all the time. And then I realized it has to be soft touch. I forced to push down the button too hard. (Yes, I know I am from Jurassic age. My kids told me.---> old generation, Ha!,Ha!)

I like the modern sleek design, the anti glaring filter, and LED. LED means I can save the electric bill, and that does not produce heat, right?

The one thing I am considering about it's not bright enough to me. I need more light to see due to age related vision. I am not sure because of the anti glaring filter, or just my imagination. Above all I am happy with this.

I bought this to replace an old post light that I never really liked. It was simply a "style thing". This is absoutly beautiful! I love the different types of glass in the light. It is a little darker in color than I was expecting, but who can tell in the dark. It is very durable and was easy to install.

My husband has cataracts, not bad enough to have surgery yet, but he needs extra light to read, and this lamp was perfect.

It was well packed, a 'box inside a box.'

The inner factory box opened to reveal the lamp parts well separated inside a partitioned styrofoam box.

There were only 4 parts: the heavy base (and it is quite heavy so the lamp won't tip), the stem, the top fixture, and the light bulb.

Installation took maybe 10 minutes tops, all you do is:

Seat the bulb in the fixture,

Connect the lower stem wire to the base wire via matching plugs

Seat the stem in the base, a firm push made it snap in tightly. There is an audible snap when it's in right.

Connect the top stem wire to the fixture wire, again matching plugs.

Snap the fixture part onto the stem, again they audibly snap into place.

Turn on the light. I did have to re-seat the bulb, evidently it was not tight enough the first time.

After that all was well, and my husband is very very happy. He loves to read.

I was concerned at first that the stem was rather lightweight and worried that it would bend, but after assembly it seems fine and I think it should hold up well.

I bought this lamp for my husband and he put it on his nightstand. It looks fantastic! I'm not sure what it is about it, but the light coming through the glass looks really cool. It makes the lamp on my side look very plain and dull and I've asked for a matching lamp as a gift for my birthday or Christmas. While our bedroom isn't done in the Cowboys theme, we have some blue in our bedspread and it blends in nicely. This lamp does not look or feel cheaply made and it seems to be high quality. The on/off switch is on the cord which makes for easy access from the bed. This is a great gift for any Dallas Cowboys fan!

Ten years ago if I bought something this cheaply made I'd give it one star, but I guess we're all getting used to the manufacturing paradigm that you want to make something as cheaply as possible but still work.

On the down side sheet metal work is poor. Holder for the 'cloud' is a strap bent around outside of the box not straight or flat consequently I was not able to mount it so box flush against ceiling, and it shows. (OK probably could if I took the fixture down, drilled 2 screens into the box near the end that shows, 2 into ceiling and sunk plaster anchors into the ceiling, pulling it very tight against ceiling on the end.) The holders for the sockets clip loosely into sheet metal straps you have to wiggle them to get bulbs in not sure it's safe to change bulbs with power on. Instructions include instructions for replacing the ballasts either they are being thoughtful or do not expect them to last. Instructions warn you that 'cloud' breaks easily. I believe it that was true of the fixture this replaced and it was the reason I replaced it.

On the plus side the T8 bulbs light instantly and that's nice. Very bright. Very nice lighting and looks good if you don't look too close and notice the fixture is pushed out 1/8" from the ceiling on the one corner. (I doubt too many people would look close.)
