This lights up, changes colors, fast or slow or stays one color
It is a really pretty effect and the first day we got it, I tossed a wine bottle in the vase and thought it perfect
the three pages of instructions actually take 2 minutes to learn
You have three buttons
One to turn the vase on
One to decide how fast if at all to change colors
And one to control a ring of white light at the top rim that illuminates your flowers
And there is the flaw
the technology works perfectly
The vase design is a problem
I was so excited I raced out and bought perfect white tulips
The stems were illuminated by the color changing vase
The flowers were in the dark
I removed all extra leaves from the flowers until the bottoms of the flowers got some light
And for a tall vase my flowers are not particularly high
The design is just one that highlights water and stems more than your flowers
To be fair, that's exactly what also happens on the picture on the box
The white ring of light for the flowers can have three levels of intensity but even the brightest levels
can't Illuminate flowers six inches above the lit rim while the stems are the subject
of a gorgeous light show
I am a geek and love this technology
Someone should add a led on an arm to spotlight the flowers and create some balance
This is a lovely idea that needs tweaking

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I like the low-key cheesiness of this thing; almost makes you feel like lighting some sandalwood incense and putting the black light on to look at your velvet poster of the couple holding hands on the mountain top as the dragon soars by, while you sit and read the papers about this new Watergate scandal.
Alas, it's 2011, not 1973, and this crazy piece o' paraphernalia is being sold not at your local headshop for twenty bucks, but at your local (somehwat bemused) florist's for almost three hundred. Say what?! Yes, you read that right, this thing retails at 270 clams, which might be fair if it was made of crystal. Buuut, it's made of standard polyresin plastic, has a simple little charger base (which takes 10 hours to charge it!), and lights the stems of the flowers while the blossoms stay rather dark. Honestly, it feels like some sort of April Fool's joke by Phillips. Phillps? How is it they of all people are putting this out? Maybe they've been headquartered near Amsterdam too long.
Whatever the reason, this is one of the most amusingly over-priced items I've ever seen. It's kind of cute in its own way, but is truly worth fifty bucks at most. Better to just get a nice vase for forty and a color-changing mini disco ball for ten at one of those crappy mall stores that sells that kind of stuff. And if you want a good laugh while there, ask them if they've got the new Phillips psychedelic vase. Carefully observe the look on their face. That's how you would look if you bought this and then opened the box and wondered, "Did they ship the wrong item?"
Or just buy a black light, put it on your Hammond B-3, and place some tulips beside it. You'll be much happier avoiding this item and instead enjoying tulips on your organ while the new Pink Floyd record plays on the console stereo/tv.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program If you, like Morticia Addams, like to bob the flowers from your bouquet before putting the stems on display, this is the vase for you. Just as shown on the box the vase arrives in, your stems will be bathed in a color or colors of your choice.
What in the world was Phillips thinking when they came up with this thing? I really want to know. I ordered it for review without looking to see what it cost, thinking it was kind of a kitschy-cool Spencer's Gifts sort of item, probably priced in the $30 dollar range. (Now I'd raise it to $60 since it's a well-made piece of kitsch.) But the list price is $270, making Amazon's $180 sound downright reasonable -at least if it were a Murano art glass piece instead of a plastic light-up vase that leaves your flowers in the dark while highlighting the watery stems. And if your stems are like mine, they just aren't that attractive, especially after a couple days when the water starts looking a little like plomeek soup.
Speaking of that Vulcan delicacy, hanging a miniature USS Enterprise and maybe a Romulan vessel or two inside the lit-up vase would be far more logical than flowers; that, at least, makes sense, since the vase has a 1960s science fiction look to it. I've also thought about using it as a goldfish bowl but decided that the lights would drive the fish mad, no matter how many adjustments Philips has made available. Marbles might look great, but I think I may try a houseplant so that I can have the nerdiest, funkiest terrarium in town. (There's a ring of white light that would probably keep a plant happy; I believe it's meant to illuminate flowers above the rim, but it can't possibly do so.)
The vase has a high-tech charging base that's a breeze to use, and use it, we have: while I'd never blow the money for this item unless maybe it was in someone's wedding registry and I had money to burn, we are actually using the vase every night. It's empty, resting atop a tall bookcase across from our bed. We set it to change colors slowly and it's fun to stare at as we fall asleep. It does beg for sitar music, though.
If a thick plastic light-up vase that's incredibly expensive is what you want, you might give this five stars. I'd give it three if it weren't for the ridiculous price tag. I might even give it four if it was under $40 simply because I'm a kitsch-loving geek. But the design is so poor -what tested this thing, manatees? -that it serves no real purpose that I can figure out, other than serving as the most expensive night-light show around.

*Techy from top to bottom. From the multi-color LED's to the touch sensitive control buttons to the induction charger, this device oozes of modern technology.
*Beautiful auto-changing LED colors are well shaded so as to not shine in your face. The colors are pleasingly soft and really set the mood in a dark environment.
*The induction charging base allows you to just plop the vase on it without worrying about aligning a charging connector. Removing it from the charger is as easy as lifting a vase off a table. The base is attractive and minimalistic.
CONS:
*From a distance, the vase looks good, but up close, it has a plastic-y appearance. The double-walled design is thick and not befitting an ultra-modern device. Not a big deal because a bunch of flowers will mostly hide these flaws, and in the dark, you only see the LED lights anyways.
*Control buttons are not intuitive. The "color" button toggles between fast color change, slow color change, and off when you hold it for 3 seconds at a time. If you want to select a single color, you hold that same "color" button for 1 second when your color is being displayed. To adjust the white light (which is located at the top of the vase), hold the "intensity" button for 1 second to toggle between dim, medium, bright, pulse, and off. Good luck remembering all that in a month without pulling out the manual.
*The touch sensitive buttons are not very sensitive to touch. The on/off button works consistently but the other 2 do not. Very likely, you'll just find a setting you like and never change it again.
NOTES:
*Bigger than it appears in the pictures. Make sure you check the dimensions because this is a big vase best suited for a medium to large bouquet. The vase will overwhelm short-stemmed flowers or singles/doubles. You'll want at least 3 or 4 long-stem flowers for it to look proportionally correct.
*I strongly wish there was a built in light sensor that would automatically turn it off in bright settings when the LED's lose their impact and serve as more of a distraction than anything. Also, it would be really cool to see it light up automatically when darkness falls.
OVERALL:
A very cool concept that will attract attention from guests and serve as pleasing mood lighting. There are flaws but they don't change the fact that this is a unique and beautiful device. If you don't have a constant supply of flowers, you could use it to permanently house a Lucky Bamboo plant.

First, what it is not. This is not an elegant vase that will will replace a beautiful crystal piece. But, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have its place.
I am sure that other people can find a different use for this, but for me, I decided it would make a great night light for my daughters. We let them go to the store and pick out some fake flowers. then we put it in their room and turn it on at night. They really like the ability to change the colors. It is bright enough for them to find the way to the bathroom and back in the middle of the night, but not so bright that it keeps them from going to sleep.
The only flaw we have with it, is sometimes it can be a pain to turn on. Although, once it is on, it works great. My two little girls love it.
