I swear by Ott-lights as I have vision problems and work at desk/computer at all times of day/night. This light allows me to easily move the lighting around where I need it and I always customize the base(s) by securing directly to my corner desk/wood raised monitor station with screws. Wonderful product. Replacement of the bulbs isn't often, and they are a bit tough to change-out but well worth it.

I work from home at a desk so you know the scattering of notes and papers that are laying around. The small room has one light that is behind me on the ceiling making for shadows and low light in front of me where I need light the most. I had been using a desk model Ott-Lite for some time and loved the even cool light but really needed something with flexibility that I could swing around where needed.

I have had the Ott-Lite Clamp-On Task Light for a few weeks now. There was some assembly required but no tools were needed and the parts fit perfectly in place. So far I'm impressed. The light is even and cool with only a few seconds warm up time on the bulb. Considering it is made from plastic, it does not have a cheesy feel and stability is really good. When you move it to a new position it stays right in place. The revolving bulb hood is also adjustable and also stays in place no matter where you aim it. The unit does not flop down suddenly or creep over time. The clamp holds the light onto the desk edge securely with only hand tightening. It was nice recouping the space that the desktop model took up.

The light it projects is sweet and amazingly easy on the eyes. I can go the distance with much less eyestrain and without the free sunburn you get with most conventional or high intensity lamps.

I'm thinking that replacement bulbs might be expensive but my older desk unit is still pumping out light after a year of daily use without a bulb replacement so I'm not overly concerned about it.

This is the best desk lamp I ever had. I didn't have a place to clamp it on my computer desk so I put it on a desk next to it and the swivel works great. It also has a flexible arm and a head that rotates 180°. The lighting is fabulous because it is almost completely glare-free even with my glossy finish monitor. It also lessened my eye strain and the light is not harsh at all. I use the 13-watt VisionSaver light bulb and think the lighting is just right for computer use. The draw back I heard on the lamp was that it was expensive and the arm could break, but I have not had the arm break in about eight years. The price appears to have come down from when I bought it.

My husband has cataracts, not bad enough to have surgery yet, but he needs extra light to read, and this lamp was perfect.

It was well packed, a 'box inside a box.'

The inner factory box opened to reveal the lamp parts well separated inside a partitioned styrofoam box.

There were only 4 parts: the heavy base (and it is quite heavy so the lamp won't tip), the stem, the top fixture, and the light bulb.

Installation took maybe 10 minutes tops, all you do is:

Seat the bulb in the fixture,

Connect the lower stem wire to the base wire via matching plugs

Seat the stem in the base, a firm push made it snap in tightly. There is an audible snap when it's in right.

Connect the top stem wire to the fixture wire, again matching plugs.

Snap the fixture part onto the stem, again they audibly snap into place.

Turn on the light. I did have to re-seat the bulb, evidently it was not tight enough the first time.

After that all was well, and my husband is very very happy. He loves to read.

I was concerned at first that the stem was rather lightweight and worried that it would bend, but after assembly it seems fine and I think it should hold up well.

The lamp looks like the website picture, except for the shade. The color of the shade is about right except it has some light brown markings throughout, sort of like slashes, which makes the shade look even nicer. I put the lamp in my foyer on top of a chest. The lamp was packaged well and arrived with no problems. There were a few light scratches in the black steel but I covered them with a furniture pen and they disappeared (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5). The curves in the steel make the lamp look a little delicate and very pretty. I'm glad I bought this lamp, it adds a lot of style to my foyer.

Installed new Symmons hand held in shower but the original hose rusted within a year, called Symmons who sent replacement hose, which also rusted after 6 months. Gave up on Symmons and ordered this American Standard hose as a replacement. Fits perfectly and seems to be of good quality. Seats perfectly in the Symmons holder.

I tried a Toto hose before this American Standard. The quality and weight of the Toto hose was amazing. Unfortunately, the Toto hose had a slightly different threading from my Symmons handheld but could be made to work without leaking if tightened hard. BUT chrome collar on Toto would not seat properly in the holder. It was too big and kept falling out.

The American Standard fit perfectly all around. If the finish holds up over time I will give this 5 stars. Until then I will rate it 4 stars.

I have been looking for a replacement of our vaulted ceiling incandescent can lights. I like the warm light of incandescent lights and I like their instant FULL on. I hate that they burn out quickly. Our vaulted ceiling has 8 can lights with 100 watt bulbs in them. I have to replace 3-5/year. The high ceilings make this a task a true pain.

The other issue is the 800 watts that the incandescent bulbs consume when they are on! Whew.

So we first went with the CFLs. Those solve the burnout problem and help with the watt consumption, BUT they are dimmer and yield a sickly looking light even the ones billed as warm, I don't like. I also really don't care for how slow the CLFs are in reaching their full brightness: even the instant on versions don't actually reach their full potential for a minute or two.

I replaced all with these CREE LR6. They are expensive BUMMER. However these LEDs are the best thing going. They produce light that is indistinguishable to the incandescent. They consume just over 11 watts (according to my Kill-A-Watt)and have an output very close the the 100 watt bulbs: I would estimate 90 watt equivalent, although CREE advertises as a 75 watt equivalent. They also turn on FULLY instantaneously, or nearly so. Side-by-side with an incandescent the CREE LEDs are just slightly slower, but it is unnoticeable in my opinion.

I have had them for about 8 months now, so I cannot speak to the 50,000 hrs in longevity. I am happy thus far.

UPDATE: We are now at 2 years with these lights, and I'd estimate close to 2,000 hours of use. None have burned out which is expected given their estimated hours, and more importantly we have not noticed any color shift with them. We have some other "regular" bulb type LEDs that started out warm, but have slowly seen a slightly blue shift in the color.

If you are looking for an LED downlight that produces a beautiful incandescent like light, this unit should delight you. We put three of them in a bathroom remodel and were so pleased that we put another 10 in a kitchen remodel. The light turns on instantly at full brightness, it is a true warm incandescent color (very well matched between units), and it uses only 12 watts of power while putting out more light than our former 50ER30 downlights. You may mutter a bit about the initial cost, but I doubt you will regret choosing these superior quality lights.

More light: Takes 3 bulbs (my old fixture held only 1 bulb). I'm using LED A19 bulbs instead of incandescent.

Medium size: Good scale for hanging over the compact table in my smallish eat-in kitchen area.

No view of bulbs: the bowl style hides all the bulbs. Lovely white glass bowl.

Long chain: Plenty of chain for my high ceilings

Beautiful style: A very attractive fixture, important because it can be seen from the living room and hangs in front of the front window that overlooks my porch and street. Brushed nickel finish looks right with my stainless kitchen appliances.

Good quality: Solidly built and good fit. I think it looks more expensive than it is.

Arrived in perfect condition. Can't comment on ease of installation because my experienced handyman installed it for me.

I just got this and set it up. It was quite easy to put together since there is only one part that needs to be added. The socket needs to have the light bulb (a 15 watt maximum chandelier style/night light bulb) attached and then it needs to be clipped inside the tea pot.

This is made a lot sturdier than I expected I expected something quite delicate and prone to breakage, but for all the beauty this has it feels like it will take normal wear and tear without falling apart first thing.

The glass colors are lovely all shades of green, blue, red, pink and lavender with accents of yellow and deep gold, set into a background of a creamy white/pale gold.

This was packaged very, very well and should suffer no damage in shipping.

It isn't as bright as I would have liked and I would have appreciated knowing the wattage before I bought it (this is why I deducted half a star in my rating), but that's OK; it is so beautiful in my kitchen bay window, that I will just use it as a night light and not the brighter 25 or 50 watt accent light I would have liked.

This lamp is great quality, it looks good and is high enough to illuminate my entire desk. My only two complaints are: the lamp claims you can only use 13W CFL and the bulb included has a very blue color. I feel lucky to have found this (on Amazon). I have bought several 2MT live tail centers, and was about to buy 2 more. This looked like it would replace those purchases, and it does that and more. Triple ball bearings will outlast all of my others anyway. The quality is fine, and all metal. The individual center adapters are also 2MT and can be used straight in the tail stock. I think before buying an aftermarket live center this system deserves strong consideration.
