We replaced some junky wall lanterns that had been on our house forever. These are beautiful (just as pictured) and they mount solidly to the wall. The capped bolts that you see on the outside (left and right of light) are included, but they expect you to use the electrical box bolts from your old lights. Well, ours were too rusted to be reliable. I had tons of bolts, but not the right size! Grrrr. So this added a trip to the hardware store for me.

We mounted these by our main entrance, and the smaller model (8037-71: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002X802A/) on either side of our garage. Experience so far is that they stay much cleaner than enclosed lights.

These were installed in our home in 2005. I only purchase SOLID brass. Just having polished brass eventually looks like garbage, and unfortunately, these do look like garbage and started tarnishing in 2006. I used a quality polish that is specifically for brass. These are NOT SOLID brass. Shame on Sea Gull Lighting for continuing to advertise as such. I tried having mine refunded, but since a builder installed them, Sea Gull said I have to go through the builder. In fact, at the time, Sea Gull also said these were not available to the general public.

Bottom line, don't purchase Sea Gull if you want a quality solid brass.

I am replacing a lamp I've had at least 40 years. Using an air cleaning machine caused the chrome to tarnish, in addition to replacing the lampshade on a regular basis. This lamp is perfect! It blends with our Early American country decor. I highly recommend this seller for a quality product.

This light fixture is very attractive, but the candlabra sockets are not well made. Our first fixture of this model exhibited problems when it was necessary to jiggle the light bulb(s) to get them to come back on. Over the years (7) this became a real annoyance. We should have returned it right away. Finally one socket burned out. When we finally contacted the manufacturer, we were told that the fixture only had a one year warranty through the retailer. They would not do anything. The retailer had gone out of business. Because we had a matching fixture, we were forced to buy a replacement. Bottom line: The faulty sockets are made in China. If you buy this fixture, be sure to return it within the first year if there is any inkling of problems with the sockets. The manufacturer will not stand by the product after that time.

We bought 4 of these from Lowes 3 of the small size and 1 of the large. We also bought 2 Trans Globe Lighting 5048, 3-Light Outdoor Post. They're still standing and if you squint they don't look half bad. They all faded from brown to green within months. So if green's your thing... I called the company and they company replaced them, but advised me to spray them with a UV protectant. I thought why, they're meant to be outside, but I did anyway. $6 a can x 4 cans. This slowed the process down, but within a year they're green again. I called the company, Trans Globe, and they basically said too bad, your warranty's up.

Please read reviews before you buy any of Trans Globes, aka Bel Air Lighting, Chinese junk. Long term, after 1 year, you'll be wishing you did. Now looking back I should have demanded a refund.

I purchased four of these lights directly from the manufacturer's website. While the lights themselves are beautiful, the black gold finish faded away in two months time. It faded completely. The new "patina" doesn't bother me tremendously, (I hesitate to even call it patina because I don't want to mislead anyone..(it's not patina like copper verde gris, its dull and gray) but anyone buying these lights needs to be aware that this will happen. It's not even that some of the lights were directly in the sun. They were on 2 different sides of my house and not even the sunniest side. I believe the finishes are just painted on and that was the problem. Thought anyone considering buying these would want to know. Other than that, the lights themselves are gorgeous.

Wow, what an eye catcher. I can't believe how well this lamp is made. Heavy duty, well made, and very detailed. Even the mask raises so that you can to see the face. What I also like, is how the light from the shade is displayed on the wall, which are dark Crosses. The only downfall is the short length of the power cord, and how the on/off switch is half way down the cord. But other than that, you will not be disappointed with its Knight charm. Really sets the mood of the medieval times.

These are great looking lamps with nice clean lines. The only difficulties we had were pretty minor. We purchased several of them and we had to go through a few before we found one with an instruction sheet. The instructions are actually very helpful because without them it is not obvious that the plastic mounting ring for the shade is actually two pieces, since they are sometimes difficult to separate. Once you know that you only want to remove ONE PART of the ring to install the shade, this process becomes very simple. Also, the threads where the wand is attached were poorly cut on some of the lamps (you need a 4mm x .7 tap to finish cutting them carefully, remember you don't want go to through where there might be wires, etc.). Finally, we suggest unpacking these lights outside because most of the packages are severely battered in transit and the plastic foam insert in which the heavy base is packed is nearly always smashed to bits and these styrofoam bits will get EVERYWHERE in your home via static electricity and air currents if you are not careful.

None of this is meant to suggest that we didn't like these lamps. We love them and minor quality control lapses do not interfere with our use and enjoyment of them. One note: if you want or expect the on/off switch to be on or near the lamp head, be warned, there is none, the switch is in the cord several feet away.

I found this lamp ad Home Depot for considerably more (about twice the price) Really liked the contemporary lines and fits my minimalist home. Very nice and sturdy! Put together was a snap and I don't find it the least bit "wobbly"? Just be sure to put it together properly. Instructions were right on top. Luv it!

This is a beautiful lamp. I saw it in store and had it ordered and shipped to my apartment. Upon opening the box, the Styrofoam exploded everywhere. I don't recommend opening in the house. When I screwed the pole into the base, the hole seemed to be stripped. The pole is wobbly and barely stays in place. The top part where the lamp is does not even fit in the hole on top of the pole. HORRIBLY made and I am severely disappointed for the price that I paid. Will be returning.

We just installed this yesterday. The actual install took maybe 30 minutes. The light comes with 4 steel tubes, 2 12 inch and 2 15 inch which screw together. We had wanted to use just one 12 inch, but if you only want to use 1 you have to use a 15 inch because of the way they are threaded.

The instructions aren't as clear as they could be but the install was still fairly easy. First you assemble the pieces, then hold the light up while attaching the bracket to the ceiling box, then make the wiring connections, and finally attach the ceiling trim. Attaching the bracket the to ceiling took two people, but other steps could be done by one.

The light is extremly bright with a 100 watt bulb. Because it is just above eye level in our kitchen we installed a 75 watt bulb, and may go down to a 60. But it is beautiful and a real improvement to our kitchen.

Contrary to other reviews, I was able to use a single 12" section hanging one of my lights. Simply remove the coupler that is attached to the pivoting ball in the upper portion of the fixture that screws to the electric box. The 12" rod can then screw directly into this upper most component of the light fixture on the top and the glass pendant fixture at the bottom.

The inverted disc is heavy weight 1/2" thick clear glass. Shortest stem section is 15 inches long which places the bottom of the fixture about 21 inches from the ceiling. I installed 3 of these lights over the island/bar between my kitchen and dining room, and they look great!

We bought 4 of these for our new kitchen which was remodeled down to the studs and back up. We're still putting in the final finishes, but we've already had good comments about these lights. They look really modern, yet feel in-place in our mostly traditional kitchen.

Only reason for the 4-star vs 5, is that you're somewhat restricted on the length they can hang. Each light comes with 4 rods in two sizes. The difference in length is only a couple inches between the two. So you really can't vary the height that much we ended up using two shorter rods (and not using the long rods) and still wishing we could raise them up a bit (but not nearly as high as using a single longer rod would have done). Also, one of our 4 lights seems a little loose, and at first glance there was no way to tighten it. I'm probably going to have to take the whole thing back down and inspect it closer, and possibly return it for a replacement if it's not fixable.

But all in all highly recommended.

Created quite an adventure for me. First of all, thank goodness my mom is a technician and was able to splice this strip to a power source because none is provided. I did not like the power supplies I was finding on Amazon so went to an electronics store which had the perfect plug with the appropriate amps/watts. Once we got that my parents and I splice and I set up. Setting it up was easy, though some of the strip does loose it adhesiveness after applying it. Making sure the surface is clean is a must. Also I found that the areas it came loose were areas that are upside-down. But, when all was done, they look beautiful! I have received so many compliments. Visitors to my home love them and want them! I will definitely buy this product in other colors to use as cabinet under lights and for other projects. They make my snow globes look magical. I look forward to them turning on every night! They are a deep blue (a little deeper than a black light).

I ordered this mostly because of the video that was attached to it on the product listing. However it does not come with a triple tap, in fact it does not come with any tap at all, just 3 bare wires. Now my choices are to return it or go to the hardware store and hope I can find a tap to wire on the end. It won't be as "waterproof" as if the tap was molded on like it should have been. I am very disappointed. For the price I should have gotten the complete cord.

We love the Bell & Howell Sunlight lamp. My husband and I, both Senior Citizens, have one at each of our computer stations, as well as one by the reading chair.

The goose-neck allows the lamp to be placed so that it illuminates the keyboard and the book or document one is typing from. There is no glare, and one's work is never in shadow. The light is focused in the area where it is needed, on the keyboard, crossword puzzle, needlework or reading material. The best thing about this lamp is the light -it is excellent for reading. The light, which is much different than my overhead incandescent light, seems to minimize eye strain. However, the materials of construction are flimsy and poorly toleranced -and the shipping price was about 25% of the total cost.

As someone else mentioned above, the switch went out on my lamp after about a year. Thinking it was just a short-lived bulb, I ordered two new bulbs. Now I have to decide on whether to blow $40-some bucks on another cheap lamp.

Does anyone make a decent lamp that uses these types of bulbs? It's sad that the name Bell and Howell is now associated with junk like this.

The Bell and Howell reading lamp is made in China. We bought one and it only lasted 2-3 years. We thought the fluorescent lamp went out on it so we bought a replacement bulb but that wasn't it. We tried replacing the ballast and that didn't work either. This lamp while it provides good reading light is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. Works for awhile and then fills up our landfill. Its a good lamp if you don't mind having to replace it every few years.
