Nice light fixture. However I would say that the glass color is not at pictured. The picture looks white or off white. The actual glass is more of a beige/light brown. I was surprised when i took it out of the box ( thought i got the wrong light). The glass color does not detract from the light, however, the light that is cast in the room has more of a gold color now. The Brass is beautiful and delivery was very quick.

Everything I have purchased from House of Troy has been first class, and this light is no exception. I compared these with ones available in the big box stores, and there is no comparison. This light was comparably priced, but quaity is head and shoulders above anything I found in the big stores. This is a well built, nice looking picture light. I have it on a 21x42" canvas painting. It covers the width easily but only covers down about 32". I can tilt it to cover all but it is not as bright at the bottom. House of Troy has a very strong reputation in picture lighting.

I already had several of these throughout the house, so I knew I would like it! This takes up to a 40 watt bulb. I found that for most locations a 25 watt bulb is more than adequate. This latest lamp was installed in a small hallway. In this location the 25 watts put out way too much light. I swapped in a 15 watt bulb -much better. It is nice that this lamp uses a very widely available size of bulb that can be obtained in various wattages.

The quality of the lamp is very good. It comes with a very long cord which really isn't needed if you are plugging in to an outlet behind the picture. In fact it takes some doing to tightly wind the cord so that it sits behind the painting without lifting it away from the wall. I suppose I could shorten the cord.

Let me start by saying that I rarely ever take the time to write reviews because of my schedule, but I find them most helpful (and they are what I rely on most) when trying to select the right product.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about the quality of these lights because of the very reasonable price, but after reading all of the rave reviews on them I thought I'd give them a chance.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and beauty of these landscape lights!! Not only did they provide a beautiful, golden glow (I prefer this coloring vs. the bright blueish/white LED lighting), but they looked amazing with my front yard landscaping!! They were extremely easy to assemble I didn't even have to read the instruction manual. My front yard doesn't get constant sun only the latter part of the day but that is all these lights needed and they glow beautifully at night and provide just the right amount of lighting and truly look elegant!! I was afraid that since they would not get sunlight all day long that they wouldn't work properly at night since the manual stressed that they need constant exposure to sunlight. Well, I am happy to say that this is not the case. Purchase these lights and you will not be disappointed, trust me!! I have tried many other landscape lights and have been very unhappy with the quality and the lighting these are the absolute best landscape lights I've ever had the pleasure of purchasing by far!!

BEWARE!!! When I first got the lights, two did not work. Then two days later, seven more lights stopped working. Have contacted the seller multiple times for an address and a refund for the lights. But I have not heard back from the seller with an address to resolve this problem. I have had to file a claim with Amazon. BEWARE

attractive looking set but they just won't hold a charge, 5 of the 12 wouldn't hold a charge out of the box, bought higher quality rechargeable replacement batteries but within a few weeks those wouldn't hold a charge either, even the ones that worked didn't last all night, just trashed 7 after 5 months that are no longer working at all, my guess i sthe solar panels are just too small to adequately charge the batteries, and I live in Florida the SUNSHINE STATE, company support is non-existant, don't by these, nothing but trash

I've bought 48 of these lights in Nov/Dec,they look very pretty in the garden. Several lights stopped working after a week. When I opened the light to replace with NiMH battery, 21 of them were rusty inside. Of the 27 "good" ones 13 have rusty bulbs too. That means that after only 1 1/2 to 2 months I am left with only 14 still good lights. I've taken photos of the insides but do not know how to publish them with this review.

Bought 24 lights from Home Depot 4 years ago and all of them are still working! Just replaced some of the batteries. Forgotten what brand the lights were but the batteries are Malibu.

If you're not a fan of the glaring, bright white of most other solar LED lights, then look no further! The light is as pictured a subtle, warm glow, just the right amount of light to line a front garden or a walkway, and definitely more attractive than the standard bright white! We used these lights to line our front gardens, twelve lights were just the right amount. Also, the actual size of the lights is great; they are not so big that they detract from the flowers and shrubs, and not so small that they aren't noticeable just perfect!

I have been installing landscape lighting systems for over 10 years now as a part of home building and remodeling projects that I do. I have been in the past purchasing commercial grade transformers for durability and reliability. One system that we installed a couple of years ago had over 50 fixtures and used 900 watts of power. We installed a 900 watt transformer on this job, however it would fail at 6 month intervals. Even though the manufacturer would replace with a new one free of charge, the shipping and installing of a new transformer each time was costing me a lot of money as well as being frustrating for the client and us. So...

I decided to try replacing the one 900 watt transformer with 3 of these moonrays 300 watt transformers. And I can report that after over a year of service that they are still working great. Not a single problem running at their max rating of 300 watts. Several months ago we changed out the incandescent bulbs to LED's and now they are running around 250 watts on the whole system. Each of the 3 transformers is running about 83 watts. And they have been working great.

Last week the clients had a lightening strike near their home. It must have travelled thru the buried low voltage wire runs as we had a surge protector on the power line side of the transformers where they were plugged in. Over 30 of the fixtures had blown LED's. We ran an array of tests on the transformers and they were still working fine! I couldn't believe it. I am truly impressed with them. I am now using them on all of my jobs. With LED fixtures/bulbs becoming much more affordable, this 300 watt transformer is all we ever have to install even on very large jobs.

I do want to mention that the original ones that I ordered a couple of years ago had the photocell under the clear window to the left of the LED Indicator on the front of the unit. The Amazon photo still shows this same style transformer. The newer one no longer have the photocell in this location. Instead you can see a black and red wire at the old photocell location and now there is a 8 foot lead wire out of the bottom of the transformer with the photocell at the end of it. We usually mount our the transformer outside and the old style worked perfect for us, however this new style will allow you to mount the transformer inside or remotely within 8 feet of a sunlit location. We just coil the wire up and zip tie it close up on the under side of the transformer where it can still receive sunlight. This new design does allow greater flexibility of mounting options so it really is a better design. I hope the photocell holds up as well as the old ones do. I don't really see why they wouldn't. So far we haven't had any problems, but we have not tested the new design for over a year in operation yet.

2 more points I would like to make:

First is that there are only two screws on the underside of the transformer for you to connect your low voltage wire to. On the commercial transformers that we used to install there would be a bus bar that had pencil sized holes in it with captive screws coming up from underneath the holes to compress and hold the wires that were inserted into the holes. This would allow you to insert 3-12ga or 4-14ga wires into the hole easily and secure with screw. The way we work around attaching many wires to this transformer is by using 2 white and 2 black 12 gauge solid copper wires as pigtails. You can easily place the 2 white wires under either side of one of the screw terminals and the black wires on the other. Then you will have 2 neutrals and two hot pigtails that you can wire nut your low voltage wires too. We bend the pigtails up after installation so that the wire nuts are facing up and shed any water that may reach them.

Second is that on the commercial units you usually have stepped voltages on the bus bar. They would start at 12 volts and go up to 15 volts. You would then use the higher voltage outputs for longer runs of lights that were farther away or had more fixtures on them. This would allow you to even out the brightness levels of all your fixtures in your system. If you are running conventional incandescent or halogen bulbs then you may want to keep this in mind, especially if you have a landscape design that spreads out your fixtures at greatly varying lengths. This transformer has only one set of 12 Volt terminals.

LED lights have allowed us to make longer runs with smaller gauge wire and has virtually eliminated brightness variances. This transformer is a perfect fit for LED's. Also if you have a limited number of incandescent fixtures (10 or less maybe) and/or you have them run in parallel then this would probably work great as well.

In conclusion I will have to say that this transformer has exceeded my expectations and I have been very pleased with it. It has also dropping in price from &97 to $85 since I first purchased one over 2 years ago. This really is a great deal. Hope this review helps! Good Luck with your Landscape Lighting Project.

I purchased this security light with some apprehension as a solar powered one (different manufacturer) bought several years ago did not perform well. That previous purchase used a 6 volt battery which did not last or could be charged adequately with the solar collector provided. I threw it in the garbage after 2 years.

I went with the LED to reduce the battery drain but waffled between multiple LEDs and the single one per light on this brand. I am not disappointed, the brightness is exceptional even if not equal to a 120 volt halogen. Large reflectors emit good light over acceptable distance and coverage and you can't look directly into the lights they are so bright.

A weakness is that the light will have to be removed (unscrewed) to change the battery (hopefully not often), but it's hard to engineer all the good features into a small package. As well the sensor has limited movability so mounting position is important to get the correct sensor coverage. Reading the settings marks is very difficult as they are the same white as the body. I had to color them with a sharpie.

As with all these motion sensors the motion needs to be at right angles to the sensor for best sensitivity.

I gave it 4 stars only because it's on trial to see how long the battery lasts and if in winter the solar collector will be able to charge the unit properly.

Installed this unit in March 2012 and it worked great. Unfortunately in November 2012 the battery began not to hold a charge. Tried the recharging method called out in the owner's manual but it failed to resolve the issue. Light will retain a charge lightly and then fail after it turns on a few times.

Contacted Cooper lighting and without hesitation they mailed me a brand new replacement No hassles whatsoever.

Great Customer Service.

Will update this post as to the replacement light operation/reliability.

Bought three of these lights because it seemed like a great improvement over the heavy metal reflectors I had been using. This is a case , I think, of having a great product-almost. It is light (pun intended) and compact, which makes it great for small spaces. Here's the hang up, It's the hang up cable. They really took off their thinking caps when they came up with the cable and crimp system that's on their. It feeds through the metal collar so can't be removed without cutting the cable which I wouldn't advise as it probably voids your warranty. So, here we are with cables that hang the light a minimum of 8" below whatever you are hanging from. Add a few for a pulley to raise and lower your light and whatever size pot you are using. I don't know about you but that doesn't leave me with all that much free air space for dangling. Don't get me wrong, I like the cooltubes themselves! Ok, OK, there is just one other thing that isn't even really a problem for me but could be for you. It's the collars themselves. the one on the socket side has the socket mounting bolt heads through the collar. The light plug comes out on that collar also so, it is obvious they did not intend you to attach to that end. That's fine if you are pulling air from the room to the outside to cool the room but, and here's where the caps came off again, what if you want to pull outside air in, cool the light and send it back out. All they had to do was give a little more length to the collar on that end. They could use the extra metal they saved on the shorter hangers!

This lamp is a great price, solidly constructed, and looks elegant. Some people don't like the plastic shade, but I think it looks fine and passes for glass unless you look really closely. Unfortunately, after a few days the light started turning off randomly, and you have to jiggle the on/off switch to get it on again. I have had these lamps for awhile now and have been very happy. One behind my couch on either side. I like that they use incandescent bulbs as they do not get nearly as hot as the Halogen lamps I replaced. They have been very stable on my carpet and look great. Reviewer edit: This is already defective, I'm returning it.

First things first: this is NOT dimmable. There is a cheap off/on switch that has two settings, low and and high. The switch is already acting wanky. I have to turn it several times to get it to turn on.

I was surprised this was $70. Cheap crap from China I suppose.

Like other reviewers, I used to have a great high watt dimmable halogen floor lamp. It appears these are not made any longer due to fire hazard.

If I could find a good one for over $100 I wouldn't mind the price. I guess I'll to shop at brick and mortar stores and test drive them.

While I am irked by the fact that they are made in China, I have to say they are a great value. They cost less than any one part that might have repaired the old Hubble wall packs that they replaced.

They even included a new bulb. The housing is all metal and they have glass lenses that won't yellow with age.

I am very pleased so far.

I ordered a pair of these lights and was not disappointed at all. They look exactly like pictured. The only draw back is that they take a smaller bulb and so they are not very bright but we have installed on either side of a fireplace with a very large TV in the centre so we did not want very much light in that area.
