I own a commercial interior design company and purchase a lot of $100-$150 lamps for modern/contemporary office use. This one is pretty decent. It is heavy and pretty well made -especially the shade. I did not find any of the issues described here except the cardboard and foam packaging is Chinese. It's does the job and then goes in the garbage. The overall quality is a little better than Lite Source and Kenroy and about the same as Possini. We plan to buy more of these at this price point.

We ordered two for our bedside tables. Shipping time was abnormally long and very poor communication from supplier when we tried to locate shipment. Packaging was in very poor quality cardboard cartons and styrofoam both of which seem to disintegrate in your hands leaving a mess. The wood is actually resin painted very poorly. The resin casting was sloppy leaving ragged hard resins edges that the manufacturer made no attempt to sand smooth. The felt bottom was slapped on leaving one ragged resin ridge unprotected and ready to gouge wood tops. The poorly attached metal trim had broken loose in shipment and was unsightly. All in all a shoddy product from an unprofessional supplier.

Got three of these lights to go over a bar. They look amazing and they take regular light bulbs. I choose to install dimmable LEDs and they work great! My wife and I thought these would be perfect for the house. They are made in China and do reflect that in their quality. The globe is not replaceable if it ever breaks because it is riveted into the housing. They are made cheaply, but do like the look of them and hope they hold up, I did spray them with a silicone spray to ward off rust if that occurs. If you do this be sure the power is off to the light, some silicone sprays can be flammable. The price seemed high for the quality, but everything is going up in price I guess.

This fixture uses the long thin T10 light bulb. If you wonder what a T10 light bulb is just search Amazon.com with T10 Light Bulb in your search window and you will see pictures of long thin hotdog shaped bulbs. When I was young these bulbs were primarily used in refrigerators and other home appliances of the day. The T10 bulb despite its shape does not put out much light compared to the average CFL. The light from two T10 bulbs might be adequate for people who just need to see there way through the hallway or room. The two T10 bulb's used by this Minka-Lavery Opal Glass 13 1/2" High Wall Sconce is in a word adequate for the most basic use but it is not a high powered light source. The Minka-Lavery Opal Glass 13 1/2" High Wall Sconce is meant more as accent lighting not task lighting. In a bathroom application this Minka-Lavery Opal Glass 13 1/2" High Wall Sconce is not suitable for shaving unless you are rather adventurous or have very young \ very good eyesight. If this were the sole source of light in your bathroom I'd be worried since this light is best used for setting a mood not setting things straight. If you use this light in a bathroom or any situation where things must be seen then make sure it is augmented by strong overhead light sources that provide ample task oriented lighting. Love the way the lamp looks, but it wasn't easy to get the globes in place. There were extra "rings" around the base of the lamp holders. My husband had to remove those before the glass globes would fit on.

We bought this for a half bath, probably two months ago. We just got around to putting the bathroom together. When I opened the box, the glass globe was shattered. I emailed Amazon, who forwarded it to the seller. It was definitely outside of Amazon's 30-day return policy. The seller emailed me and was incredibly attentive. He said that I could return it or just have the glass shipped out to us. It's that kind of service that keeps me coming back.

The actual fixture is gorgeous. It is perfect for the small space. We upped the wattage to the CLF 100 watt bulbs, 60 was too dim. The brushed nickel on this fixture matches the brushed nickel on the sink faucet, spot on. I love the feel it gives the room. Very fancy! :)

Do not waste your money. This items looks great for the first day. That is if it gets to you in one piece. The glitter lamp is really cool when it works. Mine came and the glass is no longer glued to its base and the motor will not start on its own most of the time. It worked for about a day and now its making this horrible noise. And it doesnt sound like an aquarium!!! If your thinking of buying this my suggestion is to just flush the money down the toilet it would be much more entertaining and more bang for your buck than this trash. very poor and cheap construction. I really cant believe Lava Lamp put their name on this cheap product.

I love this in concept and when it works. I bought it as a nightlight for two young sons of a friend (ages 3 and 5) and they thoroughly enjoy it. This can be purchased at Target for $14 so the price here is very inflated. For that price, it is worth it (and makes it easy to return if it stops functioning). I am actually considering buying one for my niece, so I definitely don't hate it! Some of the good and the bad, and the very pretty:

CONS: Out of the box, it is clearly not made for children to operate as it takes patience to get the alignment right. It uses a magentic connection in the base to connect to a magnetic ball in the glass. The glass is not attached to the bottom, so these can get a bit out of sync. The magnet is in the center of the flimsy plate holding the LED lights (in a circle), and all connected by a couple of wires. And not attached or set well into the base. It takes some patience and maneuvering of the magnetic and glass section sections to find alignment. I don't see it having a long life due to flimsy craftmanship, but we've only had it for a week. (I will come back and edit this after a month!)

PROS: Once it gets going, it is truly a delightful glitter display that lights up the wall and ceiling like stars. The colors change through the spectrums of blue, red, and green very primary colors and not the pastel shown in the picture. The boys love it. We keep it on a high shelf where they know to turn it on and off only, and it has worked for a week without needing re-adjusting. The MAJOR positive is that it gives off NO HEAT. It is all electrical for lights and motion, so nothing gets hot to burn the hands of little ones.

I purchased windmill to help draw attention to my daffodil and tulip garden. Yes, it did that well. It's large size and blade span caught everyone's attention. But the blades don't quite fit tightly on the spindle--the spin is a bit sloppy. It got worse when some vandals broke two of the blades off. Forget about buying replacement blades, the seller is just an importer of cheap Chinese items. I'm going to have to try and fabricate some of my own.

I agree with the other reviewer that it makes sense to lock the blades down; especially on days with any wind at all. Still, I'm glad I bought it and plan on trying to repair it.

These lights look nice, but they are total fire hazards. My electrician installed 4 of these and put 60 watt bulbs in them. We thought this would be fine since they are supposed to take up to 75 watt bulbs. WRONG. Within a few hours, the bulbs had melted the plastic piece that runs over the light (there is an identical piece running under the light as well). The painter caught the problem when he was doing touchups. If those pieces were glass, it would probably be a good light. But since they are not, someone is liable to have a very serious problem on their hands. DO NOT BUY THESE. Even if you know to put LEDs or CFLs in them, someone coming after you may not.

I was actually pricing other vanity lights at around $200. Then I came across this one. It works great even if your fixtures aren't chrome. In my case the bathroom actually has more of a brassy theme. The frosted glass covers the top, bottom, and front so it really goes with any metal themed room.

Installation went pretty smoothly. Be care that the installation bolts aren't too long. In my case I had to cut them down to 2/3 size in order to put the two caps on the mounting bracket.
