I would've loved wood this has shine and looks fake when close but as I look across the grass it looks very nice. I wish it would've been in 2 parts instead of so many to glue together. I have been installing landscape lighting systems for over 10 years now as a part of home building and remodeling projects that I do. I have been in the past purchasing commercial grade transformers for durability and reliability. One system that we installed a couple of years ago had over 50 fixtures and used 900 watts of power. We installed a 900 watt transformer on this job, however it would fail at 6 month intervals. Even though the manufacturer would replace with a new one free of charge, the shipping and installing of a new transformer each time was costing me a lot of money as well as being frustrating for the client and us. So...

I decided to try replacing the one 900 watt transformer with 3 of these moonrays 300 watt transformers. And I can report that after over a year of service that they are still working great. Not a single problem running at their max rating of 300 watts. Several months ago we changed out the incandescent bulbs to LED's and now they are running around 250 watts on the whole system. Each of the 3 transformers is running about 83 watts. And they have been working great.

Last week the clients had a lightening strike near their home. It must have travelled thru the buried low voltage wire runs as we had a surge protector on the power line side of the transformers where they were plugged in. Over 30 of the fixtures had blown LED's. We ran an array of tests on the transformers and they were still working fine! I couldn't believe it. I am truly impressed with them. I am now using them on all of my jobs. With LED fixtures/bulbs becoming much more affordable, this 300 watt transformer is all we ever have to install even on very large jobs.

I do want to mention that the original ones that I ordered a couple of years ago had the photocell under the clear window to the left of the LED Indicator on the front of the unit. The Amazon photo still shows this same style transformer. The newer one no longer have the photocell in this location. Instead you can see a black and red wire at the old photocell location and now there is a 8 foot lead wire out of the bottom of the transformer with the photocell at the end of it. We usually mount our the transformer outside and the old style worked perfect for us, however this new style will allow you to mount the transformer inside or remotely within 8 feet of a sunlit location. We just coil the wire up and zip tie it close up on the under side of the transformer where it can still receive sunlight. This new design does allow greater flexibility of mounting options so it really is a better design. I hope the photocell holds up as well as the old ones do. I don't really see why they wouldn't. So far we haven't had any problems, but we have not tested the new design for over a year in operation yet.

2 more points I would like to make:

First is that there are only two screws on the underside of the transformer for you to connect your low voltage wire to. On the commercial transformers that we used to install there would be a bus bar that had pencil sized holes in it with captive screws coming up from underneath the holes to compress and hold the wires that were inserted into the holes. This would allow you to insert 3-12ga or 4-14ga wires into the hole easily and secure with screw. The way we work around attaching many wires to this transformer is by using 2 white and 2 black 12 gauge solid copper wires as pigtails. You can easily place the 2 white wires under either side of one of the screw terminals and the black wires on the other. Then you will have 2 neutrals and two hot pigtails that you can wire nut your low voltage wires too. We bend the pigtails up after installation so that the wire nuts are facing up and shed any water that may reach them.

Second is that on the commercial units you usually have stepped voltages on the bus bar. They would start at 12 volts and go up to 15 volts. You would then use the higher voltage outputs for longer runs of lights that were farther away or had more fixtures on them. This would allow you to even out the brightness levels of all your fixtures in your system. If you are running conventional incandescent or halogen bulbs then you may want to keep this in mind, especially if you have a landscape design that spreads out your fixtures at greatly varying lengths. This transformer has only one set of 12 Volt terminals.

LED lights have allowed us to make longer runs with smaller gauge wire and has virtually eliminated brightness variances. This transformer is a perfect fit for LED's. Also if you have a limited number of incandescent fixtures (10 or less maybe) and/or you have them run in parallel then this would probably work great as well.

In conclusion I will have to say that this transformer has exceeded my expectations and I have been very pleased with it. It has also dropping in price from &97 to $85 since I first purchased one over 2 years ago. This really is a great deal. Hope this review helps! Good Luck with your Landscape Lighting Project.

Reasonably well-made: metal, not plastic, even though it is low-voltage and there's no safety reason (and at least in the U.S., no electrical code reason) why it has to be metal. Kudos, although the individual lamp swivel is a bit iffy (loose/hard to tighten nut flanges).

One star off because this is not two LED bulbs (yes, each of those big lamps is actually a single LED, but it is very bright for just one) wired in parallel, like virtually every other fixture, but wired in series. The reason this is an issue is because when (not if, although hopefully with LEDs "when" will be a long time off in the future) one bulb burns out, the other will also stop working. Probably saved a few Yuan somehow, otherwise I'm not sure why you would wire a fixture that way.

The main star off is the honking big DC converter. Unlike other household LEDs, which have the AC-to-DC "driver" circuitry inside the bulb itself (those fins you see at the base of screw-in LED bulbs) or integrated into the fixture, this has a pair of tiny red and white wires connecting to a power converter, about the size of three packs of gum (but a lot heavier) that is swivel-connected to a electric box crossbar mount. The idea is that when you mount the fixture via a typical crossbar to your electrical box, the power supply will be securely connected to, and inside of, your electrical box. And if you are installing to one of the deeper-style electrical boxes, this will work fine. If you have one of the shallower boxes, I'm not too sure if it will squeeze inside; and if you want to flush-mount to something, you're on your own. (In my case I have metal plates on either side of a cinder block wall and I was able to flush mount the light to the outside, pass the little DC wires through the metal plate, and have the power supply on the inside of the wall...but that involved snipping wires, and not everybody will have a mounting situation to do something similar.) Also note that this has no photocell or motion detector, and such options cannot be added to it (no screw-out plugs to add things later).

If you are definitely going to mount this to a deep, round box that is activated by a physical on/off switch or timer then I highly recommend this unit: sturdy and bright, a solid four stars for the price. If you need to mount it flush, or have motionor nighttime-activation, you might be better off with other options.

Review of Upgradelights Victorian Floor Lamp Shade 19 Inch with an Silk

We have an antique lamp that requires this type of shade, which has been very difficult to find. Others we had looked at were $150 and more. This shade was not only the right size in height and width, but has the added sculpturing which made it look a little more elegant than the original plain shape. The material is more a brushed silk feel, but does have a nice trim all around. The only issue is that the crossbar that goes accross the top of the shade has the indentations where it would sit on the glass shade in the center of the lamp. When you place the shade on the lamp, the indentations do not fit on both sides on the top of the glass shade. This means that only one of the indentations fits onto the glass, and the other is off, making the shade a little less stable. We fixed this by putting a small clamp on the side that did not fit into the indentation so that the shade would not wobble. Other than that, great shade at a great price.

I bought 2 of these lamps from Vision Decor. The first was replaced after I complained on Amazon that it would intermittantly turn off due to faulty wiring. They agreed to give my money back if I removed the complaint from the Amazon site which I did. I then went out of the country for several months and returned to find that the second lamp has the same problem. Despite knowing these lamps are defective they refuse to take it back as it is past the refund date. Recommend you do not buy from them

I remember these lamps from the '90s. Those were the best. Its unfortunate that stupid people ruined it for the rest of us who knew better then to put these lamps where they could easily get knocked down or threw clothing items on top of the lamps causing fires. However, since people did those things, the bulbs can't go passed 190w thus making them not really that bright. These particular lamps have 180w bulbs. The amount of light is ok but, if you're a person that likes really brightening up a room, you either will want two of these or something else.

Now, I received my first one just the other day. I was very disappointed. The bulb housing wasn't secure and thus just moving around inside the dish(shade,dome). The bulb assembly is made up of all these little pieces supposedly screwed together. One of these screws was out thus causing the moving around of the bulb assembly. After having to try and figure out how to get these things undone so I can get to the screw that was out and put it back in, I discover that the screw along with its opposite side companion would NOT tighten. They kept turning and turning. So now, the assembly is in place but, its not snug. With halogen, you don't want loose parts. I put everything back together and discover the lamp does NOT work at all. I discovered the bulb is bad. Unbelievable. I immediately contacted Amazon. I decided to give it another shot. We have all come across bad items at one point or another. The second one is on its way. When the second one comes, I will immediately check the bulb and see of the bulb assembly is snug or loose. If either is bad, that one will go back as well and I will just get a refund.

I'm just so annoyed that something that costs over a hundred dollars and is so cheaply assembled. Its definitely not worth the cost. There are very similar designed lamps that are manufactured from ORE International. While those have gotten just as bad reviews at least they're half the price.

I would say don't buy these.

**Update, I had received the second one and it came with a poorly designed bulb assembly. So my original review definitely stands. You pay over $100 for this lamp that should only cost maybe $50 at most. The green disk below the lamp dish is supposed to be for style highlights but, you see the wire shadows and such when the light is on. That is just poor design. Not worth the money people...don't buy these.

If you are looking for a full range dimmer lamp here is a good solution, if you just want a nice standing lamp I would recommend the Good Earth Lighting Lincoln Park Torchiere. I own both and they are both pretty good (the good earth is half the price, looks nicer, but no full ranger dimmer like this one).

I give this 4 out 5 stars because it does what I purchased it to do with but with no thrills or frills. Been working great for a about a month now.

I don't like paying over $100 for a 180 watt floor lamp when only a few years ago I bought a bunch of 300 watt floor lamps for around $20 each, but apparently noone makes the 300W one's any more. I'm not sure it that's related to idiots leaving those lamps near curtains and burning down their houses or not?

Anyway, this lamp is great however despite the price. After the other lamps broke down (switches quit working etc., I got some of the substitutes at near the same prices but that only go up to 150 watt bulbs. Even though you wouldn't think 180W is much brighter than 150W's, it IS! It is WAY brighter, and really lights up the living room. I just bought 2 more of these I like them so much.

However (again), this place's customer service SUCKS! If you call, they tell you to hit #1 (or 2?) to proceed, then you get a recording saying everyone's busy, please leave a message. I leave a message, and no one ever calls back. I emailed for support, because I wanted to buy several replacement bulbs and their site says you have to call customer service (yeah, right, like that will work) to see if they have them in stock. I got an email back saying they'd have someone call me. They did, only when I wasn't home. The message said I'm so & so, please call me back "at my direct number.."

Well, her direct number was the same damn number that never is answered by a human being. So, now I have 3 lamps, and the way it looks, whenever a bulb burns out, the lamp may be useless, unless I can get someone to answer their customer support phones!! (But the bright white light looks great for now! It would have been 5 stars if they'd answer their phones!)

I like this fan because it blends in with the ceiling and doesn't look like a big ugly ceiling fan with stupid looking ugly lights on it. No "fake" wooden blades. No ugly brass. It's about as "simple" as you can get, quiet as it could possibly be, and inexpensive. It is my opinion that ceiling fans should be "felt" and not seen or heard!

We put this in a guest bedroom and it replaced a hideous looking LOUD "Hampton Bay" from Home Depot that was quite frankly shameful. lol

My husband did not understand why I chose no lights on it until it was installed and he could see how much nicer the room looked just with lamp lighting and no ugly fan lights.

Replaced an older fan which was noisy and didn't move much air unless set to the highest speed (where it added vibration to the noise). The new Hunter is silent (all you can hear is the blades moving the air) and is totally vibration free without installing the balancing kit.

Fan operates very quietly and looks great. I agree with other reviewer(s) that parts of the installation guide are unclear, particularly the steps about mounting the bracket to your ceiling. Based on your ceiling and home builder the steps may not apply and leave you to your own determinations. If you've previously installed a ceiling fan in your home then you may not have any difficulty.

Although a little frustrating, it wasn't too difficult to overcome the installation guide and I'm very happy with the result. The fan looks and performs great.

It's not intended to give a room full of bright light and I use a 100 watt CFL in it, but it's still offers a dim cast of light. I have red decor and this steps the room up a notch. It looks very nice, however mine seems to be not quite level. Other than slight tilt, I have no complaints with the lamp. The glass appears to be connected with real solder (i.e. not a painted imitation) and looks very nice when lit.

This item is great. I bought it for my wife as part of her anniversary present, and she loves how it looks and how sturdy it is. I had little difficulty with assembly, and it has a decent length of cord with an adjustable position for the push-button switch so you can position it easily. The top of the glass is a little more blue-green than the yellow it looked like to me in the image, but the red is rich and still fits perfectly with how my wife has our living room decorated. If it's not obvious, this lamp is not intended to light a room by itself, but I suppose if you put in a 100W bulb or its cfl/led equivalent, you'd be half way there. It succeeds superbly as an accent light, however.

This product would be more properly valued at a lower price point. I like the base because it is round and heavy enough to be stable, the pole is pretty cheap, but people won't be looking closely at that. The lamp shade looks like it was put together in a hurry and not as professionally crafted as one would like. The color is similar enough to the photo that I can't complain about that. It was very easy to put together. I bought two and am using as boudoir lamps with 25 watt round soft white bulbs. Works. This order was shipped very fast.
