Looks great. I put a plug on the end, and used it as a swag light rather than a hanging pendant. They supplied plenty of wire with the light. Finish is quality, look is good. Even looks nice with a CFL bulb inside.

I should have know from the price that this light would not be quite as nice as the picutre lends to believe.

First off, the "directions" consist of two sheets of paper, one telling you quantities and the other with 5 steps that are clearly not in real English, and not directions at all. We had to look up the fixtue on the web to be able to get some help.

When installing the flat piece the lights hang off of, I sliced my fingers twice so please be careful! It's a lot more flimsy than it looks in the picture as well.

The last piece we went to install didn't fit, the cover/plate that goes around the actual light socket (where the crystals hang from). I had to use some tin snips and pliers to make the hole bigger. Thankfully that worked.

That all being said, it does look pretty nice now that it's done. So, if you're thinking about this fixture I hope you're electrically handy and ready for a bit of a challenge.

this item should not be used for a big room or even a small room ( 5 light chandelier), a closet maybe , its small,and not very bright.light bulbs are expensive to replace ..we bought the smaller -one lightchandelier at the same time -i will not put it up after seing this one .. for closets only..

The product was hard to put together and a lot of crystals were missing, and if you have bad hands don't try it. I e-mailed for a refund and they were very good and said to not even send it back and they would refund the full price. The crystals are plastic and clearly don't reflect light as well. I have a small eat in kitchen, and this provides a nice, soft light to eat under, which i prefer to a blaring lamp on my food. It is a nice addition to our kitchen. You do have to attach 80 strands of crystals, and the edges are sharp so BE CAREFUL! I cut myself twice. All in all, we really like it. I was hoping that the reflection would be a little more brilliant, but all in all, i am pleased.

Cheap Architect Style Clamp-On Base Desk Lamp

In order to get some idea of where the Architects' Desk Lamp sits in the quality spectrum we first should look at the bottom of the food chain in this market. You can get a typical surprisingly-cheap task lamp from OfficeDepot for around $12 and feel frugal as you wonder at how much you can buy nowadays. If you never touch the thing, it will last nearly forever as the one in my Dogs den/work-space with a CFL bulb and auto timer has. But once you've even breathed on it, it will self destruct within months of that day you thought you were being so smart and price conscious.

This lamp then is a very real step above Mr. Frugal's folly. The caveat being that step is a singular one. The basic construction such as springs, connections and shaft are the same, probably interchangeable in fact. Improvements are in the "touch points" such as friction knobs, head joint assembly, switch and power knob as well as bulb shroud. Just the places the junk lamps fail.

Now lets compare the Architects' to a Tolomeo Classic. Is the Architects' Lamp worth a tenth of the Classic? Not if you care about Product Design or Design Integrity. But if you need something that works and will last longer than the light bulb installed in it, this is your lamp. But please, do buy it on sale if you can as it is still in the category of cheap things.

If you buy a lamp like this, make sure you buy one with a sturdy metal clamp; plastic ones break, sooner or later.

I had bought this lamp before from Ikea and it appears that they have changed a few things on the design. For one it's a lot shorter than I expected. I should have paid closer attention to the measurements. However, they have vastly improved the construction and it's much easier to assemble than the older version. I like this light a lot and it does put out a very bright white light.

We just installed this yesterday. The actual install took maybe 30 minutes. The light comes with 4 steel tubes, 2 12 inch and 2 15 inch which screw together. We had wanted to use just one 12 inch, but if you only want to use 1 you have to use a 15 inch because of the way they are threaded.

The instructions aren't as clear as they could be but the install was still fairly easy. First you assemble the pieces, then hold the light up while attaching the bracket to the ceiling box, then make the wiring connections, and finally attach the ceiling trim. Attaching the bracket the to ceiling took two people, but other steps could be done by one.

The light is extremly bright with a 100 watt bulb. Because it is just above eye level in our kitchen we installed a 75 watt bulb, and may go down to a 60. But it is beautiful and a real improvement to our kitchen.

Contrary to other reviews, I was able to use a single 12" section hanging one of my lights. Simply remove the coupler that is attached to the pivoting ball in the upper portion of the fixture that screws to the electric box. The 12" rod can then screw directly into this upper most component of the light fixture on the top and the glass pendant fixture at the bottom.

These modern contemporary stem hung pendant lights are ideally suited for use with the GE 18023 Dimmer, Rocker On/Off switch with Slide. Also capable of putting out plenty of light when desired. The inverted disc is heavy weight 1/2" thick clear glass. Shortest stem section is 15 inches long which places the bottom of the fixture about 21 inches from the ceiling. I installed 3 of these lights over the island/bar between my kitchen and dining room, and they look great!

We bought 4 of these for our new kitchen which was remodeled down to the studs and back up. We're still putting in the final finishes, but we've already had good comments about these lights. They look really modern, yet feel in-place in our mostly traditional kitchen.

Only reason for the 4-star vs 5, is that you're somewhat restricted on the length they can hang. Each light comes with 4 rods in two sizes. The difference in length is only a couple inches between the two. So you really can't vary the height that much we ended up using two shorter rods (and not using the long rods) and still wishing we could raise them up a bit (but not nearly as high as using a single longer rod would have done). Also, one of our 4 lights seems a little loose, and at first glance there was no way to tighten it. I'm probably going to have to take the whole thing back down and inspect it closer, and possibly return it for a replacement if it's not fixable.

But all in all highly recommended.

This is a nicely finished light--no complaints at all about it, esp. for the money. We bought it and sent it back only because it didn't work for us. We wanted it to hang down but the frame of the mirror was in the way, so we tried it with the lights shining up. In that setting, the light looked like a pair of antlers. So, point them down or not at all, is what we came up with. Still it's not an issue with the product.

I like the finished install. But I did have to tweak it a little out of the box. They where not perfectly aligned as other people had stated, but over all I'm happy with it. It matches almost perfectly with the Kohler Alteo series of bathroom fixtures.

We ordered two of these as part of a minor cosmetic upgrade of our master bathroom. They were very easy to install and look great. On one of them, I think the two holes for attaching the fixture to the plate were just a couple degrees off from being perfectly vertical, which added a very minor complication, but you can't tell now that they are up. We mounted them in the up position, and they deliver plenty of light. The finish is high quality.
