This transformer along with the WAC strip lights seem to be prone to issues with flickering while not under 100% power (when you have them dimmed).

Yes, I've tried several different types of dimmer switches and yes, it still happens.

My current research surrounds using a resistor on the circuit in order to provide an incandescent like current draw which may level out the flickering. We'll see.

This is the second time these transformers and fixtures have produced this result in two separate homes. We are still attempting to resolve the issue in both locations.

Very well made, lights work, remote is simple and works. I read other reviewer and thought the light emitted would be less than I find it is. Wanted something pretty to look at during the day and for use as a "glorified nightlight" during nights, and for those electrical black out times instead of fumbling for a flashlight. Overall very pleased with it. Would have been 5 stars at a little lower price than $85.00.

This item is solid for the $$$.........stain glass is quality. Perfect for many wall spaces. Like the remote feature. Gives off enough light to create an ambience. Two settings for amount of lite. I would recommend this to customers.

Believe the reviews that note this 3 LED unit drains its 6 AA batteries when left in the ON setting (remote control mode), whether its LEDs are lit or not. Consider placing it in an accessible position so that it can be powered off to conserve the battery life. We only power it on when expecting to use it, and do so only as an accent among the other art pieces on our wall. It's more of a night light than a tradtional wall sconce, because the 3 LEDs don't provide much illumination. The remote control unit also requires 2 AAA batteries, but have not needed to be replaced as yet.

I know this says vinyl, not tiffany. However, all the advertising I received from Bradford showed gorgeous pictures of this item. It really looked like a beautiful tiffany item. I have ordered a lot of stuff from Bradford and always been pleased. I was SO impressed with the look and sound of this item, I ordered 3 one for me, and 2 for gifts.

When I opened the first one, I was mortified. I would be totally embarrassed to give this as a gift. It reminded me of little plastic lamps I made and sold for $2 when I was in Jr Achievement in 7th grade. It was so awful that I wouldn't even keep one for myself. It is very chinsey and cheap looking and feeling. I returned all 3.

Sorry Bradford. I really love most of your stuff but this was a big fat MISS !

This cute little guy can be the warm center of a room when he is turned on. I will say that this is an extremely unique gift and I was very happy to surprise my wife with this gift. She also enjoys it but note that the picture looks better than the actual item. The face on our Pug, especially one eye, is a little lopsided...a little off but not too bad (I do wish the eyes were a bit more buggy like a real Pug's eyes). The Pug is made out of a light vinyl; you'll definitely want to keep it away from the cat's paws, other dog's nails and teeth, and out of the children's fingernails as it can be easily scratched.

I remember reading another review saying that this "Vinyl Lamp by The Bradford Exchange" was a little below Bradford Exchange standards. I unfortunately agree. This pug is cute from a distance. I have had to relegate it to the window sill in the hallway visible from but several feet from my usual chair in the living room. I have at least one other vinyl Tiffany-style animal lamp a very cute elephant with a butterfly on the end of his trunk. It actually has "vinyl" glass pieces put together in the traditional Tiffany style and is very nice looking. This pug is molded plastic with the Tiffany-style lines just painted on. Give me a break! And it actually came with a "certificate of authenticity" from the Bradford Exchange. Give me another break!! The Bradford Exchange is going to get a very bad reputation if they keep selling this type of product, especially for the price $59.99 plus $8.99 shipping!! I'm not sending it back but I'll never buy this type of Tiffany-style lamp again.

These are exactly the same as in Home Depot. It is supposed to be brush nickel but that is a little bit of a stretch. It leans a little to the chrome side in color. When it arrived one of the globes was damaged in shipping but was replaced by the company. Replacement was on back order and took a little extra time but it arrived with no problems.

This lights up, changes colors, fast or slow or stays one color

It is a really pretty effect and the first day we got it, I tossed a wine bottle in the vase and thought it perfect

the three pages of instructions actually take 2 minutes to learn

You have three buttons

One to turn the vase on

One to decide how fast if at all to change colors

And one to control a ring of white light at the top rim that illuminates your flowers

And there is the flaw

the technology works perfectly

The vase design is a problem

I was so excited I raced out and bought perfect white tulips

The stems were illuminated by the color changing vase

The flowers were in the dark

I removed all extra leaves from the flowers until the bottoms of the flowers got some light

And for a tall vase my flowers are not particularly high

The design is just one that highlights water and stems more than your flowers

To be fair, that's exactly what also happens on the picture on the box

The white ring of light for the flowers can have three levels of intensity but even the brightest levels

can't Illuminate flowers six inches above the lit rim while the stems are the subject

of a gorgeous light show

I am a geek and love this technology

Someone should add a led on an arm to spotlight the flowers and create some balance

This is a lovely idea that needs tweaking

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I like the low-key cheesiness of this thing; almost makes you feel like lighting some sandalwood incense and putting the black light on to look at your velvet poster of the couple holding hands on the mountain top as the dragon soars by, while you sit and read the papers about this new Watergate scandal.

Alas, it's 2011, not 1973, and this crazy piece o' paraphernalia is being sold not at your local headshop for twenty bucks, but at your local (somehwat bemused) florist's for almost three hundred. Say what?! Yes, you read that right, this thing retails at 270 clams, which might be fair if it was made of crystal. Buuut, it's made of standard polyresin plastic, has a simple little charger base (which takes 10 hours to charge it!), and lights the stems of the flowers while the blossoms stay rather dark. Honestly, it feels like some sort of April Fool's joke by Phillips. Phillps? How is it they of all people are putting this out? Maybe they've been headquartered near Amsterdam too long.

Whatever the reason, this is one of the most amusingly over-priced items I've ever seen. It's kind of cute in its own way, but is truly worth fifty bucks at most. Better to just get a nice vase for forty and a color-changing mini disco ball for ten at one of those crappy mall stores that sells that kind of stuff. And if you want a good laugh while there, ask them if they've got the new Phillips psychedelic vase. Carefully observe the look on their face. That's how you would look if you bought this and then opened the box and wondered, "Did they ship the wrong item?"

Or just buy a black light, put it on your Hammond B-3, and place some tulips beside it. You'll be much happier avoiding this item and instead enjoying tulips on your organ while the new Pink Floyd record plays on the console stereo/tv.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program If you, like Morticia Addams, like to bob the flowers from your bouquet before putting the stems on display, this is the vase for you. Just as shown on the box the vase arrives in, your stems will be bathed in a color or colors of your choice.

What in the world was Phillips thinking when they came up with this thing? I really want to know. I ordered it for review without looking to see what it cost, thinking it was kind of a kitschy-cool Spencer's Gifts sort of item, probably priced in the $30 dollar range. (Now I'd raise it to $60 since it's a well-made piece of kitsch.) But the list price is $270, making Amazon's $180 sound downright reasonable -at least if it were a Murano art glass piece instead of a plastic light-up vase that leaves your flowers in the dark while highlighting the watery stems. And if your stems are like mine, they just aren't that attractive, especially after a couple days when the water starts looking a little like plomeek soup.

Speaking of that Vulcan delicacy, hanging a miniature USS Enterprise and maybe a Romulan vessel or two inside the lit-up vase would be far more logical than flowers; that, at least, makes sense, since the vase has a 1960s science fiction look to it. I've also thought about using it as a goldfish bowl but decided that the lights would drive the fish mad, no matter how many adjustments Philips has made available. Marbles might look great, but I think I may try a houseplant so that I can have the nerdiest, funkiest terrarium in town. (There's a ring of white light that would probably keep a plant happy; I believe it's meant to illuminate flowers above the rim, but it can't possibly do so.)

The vase has a high-tech charging base that's a breeze to use, and use it, we have: while I'd never blow the money for this item unless maybe it was in someone's wedding registry and I had money to burn, we are actually using the vase every night. It's empty, resting atop a tall bookcase across from our bed. We set it to change colors slowly and it's fun to stare at as we fall asleep. It does beg for sitar music, though.

If a thick plastic light-up vase that's incredibly expensive is what you want, you might give this five stars. I'd give it three if it weren't for the ridiculous price tag. I might even give it four if it was under $40 simply because I'm a kitsch-loving geek. But the design is so poor -what tested this thing, manatees? -that it serves no real purpose that I can figure out, other than serving as the most expensive night-light show around.

*Techy from top to bottom. From the multi-color LED's to the touch sensitive control buttons to the induction charger, this device oozes of modern technology.

*Beautiful auto-changing LED colors are well shaded so as to not shine in your face. The colors are pleasingly soft and really set the mood in a dark environment.

*The induction charging base allows you to just plop the vase on it without worrying about aligning a charging connector. Removing it from the charger is as easy as lifting a vase off a table. The base is attractive and minimalistic.

CONS:

*From a distance, the vase looks good, but up close, it has a plastic-y appearance. The double-walled design is thick and not befitting an ultra-modern device. Not a big deal because a bunch of flowers will mostly hide these flaws, and in the dark, you only see the LED lights anyways.

*Control buttons are not intuitive. The "color" button toggles between fast color change, slow color change, and off when you hold it for 3 seconds at a time. If you want to select a single color, you hold that same "color" button for 1 second when your color is being displayed. To adjust the white light (which is located at the top of the vase), hold the "intensity" button for 1 second to toggle between dim, medium, bright, pulse, and off. Good luck remembering all that in a month without pulling out the manual.

*The touch sensitive buttons are not very sensitive to touch. The on/off button works consistently but the other 2 do not. Very likely, you'll just find a setting you like and never change it again.

NOTES:

*Bigger than it appears in the pictures. Make sure you check the dimensions because this is a big vase best suited for a medium to large bouquet. The vase will overwhelm short-stemmed flowers or singles/doubles. You'll want at least 3 or 4 long-stem flowers for it to look proportionally correct.

*I strongly wish there was a built in light sensor that would automatically turn it off in bright settings when the LED's lose their impact and serve as more of a distraction than anything. Also, it would be really cool to see it light up automatically when darkness falls.

OVERALL:

A very cool concept that will attract attention from guests and serve as pleasing mood lighting. There are flaws but they don't change the fact that this is a unique and beautiful device. If you don't have a constant supply of flowers, you could use it to permanently house a Lucky Bamboo plant.

First, what it is not. This is not an elegant vase that will will replace a beautiful crystal piece. But, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have its place.

I am sure that other people can find a different use for this, but for me, I decided it would make a great night light for my daughters. We let them go to the store and pick out some fake flowers. then we put it in their room and turn it on at night. They really like the ability to change the colors. It is bright enough for them to find the way to the bathroom and back in the middle of the night, but not so bright that it keeps them from going to sleep.

The only flaw we have with it, is sometimes it can be a pain to turn on. Although, once it is on, it works great. My two little girls love it.

Update: The Brushed Steel version that I reordered is indeed steel finish and it is a beautiful lamp. Sturdy and well made and beautiful. I am very pleased with it, it was all worth it! Too bad we are not allowed to review 2 versions of a product. The Brushed Steel version met all my expectations while the so-called Oil Rubbed Bronze version was not as described. Five stars and one star equals 3 stars. Also with all the trouble about shipping (UPS delivered in 3 days instead of 2) I think 3 star is warranted. But this is a nice lamp, steel if you prefer that, or black if you prefer that.

This lamp is not an oil rubbed bronze or any kind of metallic finish as the website claims. It is a black painted lamp with a thin stripe of bronze colored metal on the edges of the post. Black does not work at all with my decor. I am returning this and ordered the brushed steel version, but am worried that will be black with a thin metallic stripe too. It is such a hassle to print out the labels, pack everything back up, and go to a UPS location. If I could get out that easily, I wouldn't be shopping online. I'm getting really tired of so many things on the Amazon website not being as pictured or described. Amazon Support says they have no better way than I do to tell whether their merchandise will actually be as advertised. I know they're a huge company, but they are still selling these things under their name, and it seems like they need to devote some attention to quality control and making sure their customers get what they ordered.
