For years, we struggled on how to illuminate our painting over the fireplace. Due to the room dynamics, I did not want to install ceiling mounted track lighting nor install ceiling cans which would effect the thermal break in the ceiling which is also the roof. This was a perfect solution. Since it uses low voltage cable, I could easily hide the low voltage wire in the brick joints as it was routed to the A/C connection. More importantly, my wife loves it and doesn't see the low voltage cable hidden in the brick. As minimizing the power connections to the light source was important to both of us, this was a perfect solution. The only thing I would improve upon would be change the permanent connection from the wire to the lamp (soldered and shrink wrapped) to one that includes a standard 12v disconnect so that the wire could be replaced with a longer or different colored cable. Not all walls are white which would stand out if installed on a bold colored accent wall. I've also replaced the halogen lamp with a LED lamp which works very well and provides similar lumens. Very good product and I'll likely buy more.

Product was very cheaply made. Was supposed to have an in-line on/off switch, but when the light arrived, the switch was not built in. It had to be installed by end user. A wire had to be cut and I could not get it to work after trying to install according to directions. Also, the lamp shade was held on by a flimsy little wire clip that kept springing off. The bulb burned out within 5 minutes of installation. I tried to hook a plug in dimmer switch to it and the light flickered-would not dim. It was not the dimmer as that was tested on another light.

i would give it one star, but hate is a strong word, but I definitely do not like the light.

Bought the light. Just what I was looking for. Installed easily. Configuration was a pain, just as the other reviews say, but I was OK with that. The light worked great, until it rained. Then it stopped working because the little box which houses the motion sensor FILLED UP WITH WATER! Odd that it was not sealed, even though it is an outdoor fixture. I'll be returning it.

Update 02/12/2012:

If you have a florescent ballast or light on same circuit sometimes turning the florescent fixture on or off will trigger the lights. This gets annoying and false positives mean the neighbors are less likely to peek out when it comes on late at night.

Living in Texas and with the unit kept dry under an awning the entire time it was outdoors the unit is starting to suffer a short in one of the lamp sockets. Otherwise the 2 units I purchased have held up quite well. One unit has power 24/7/365 and is still in perfect working order. The other I cut off during the day and it has the faults listed above with the one dead fixture.

4 complaints. 1 is that the little knobs you turn to adjust the settings are small and it's hard to read the indicators printed next to them. 2 is that the unit I received is not bronze, it's BLACK. 3 I should have bought one with a wider range of detection but that is my fault not fault of the product. 4 This item is not 100% waterproof. When I go to repair it later I will cut up some old rubber gloves and make this thing truly weather tight. Still pleased with the product given the price though! Might not be best product for those who do not like to tinker.

Instructions were good and the mounting hardware included was much better than the (non-existent) hardware that ships with the 110 degree version. Love the photovoltaic sensor, now I don't have to remember to turn off the lights each morning. Spend a little time getting the settings just right before you review this item or give up on it.

I'm always wary of 5-star reviews. But what can I say? The thing was easy to install, worked perfectly right away, and has all the features I wanted. Mysteriously, none of my local mom-and-pop or big box hardware stores stocked anything like this with a motion detector, which is why I went Amazon on it.

All in all, no complaints.

This is seriously a waste of money. I bought it last year and after a month or two, it would always stay on. So then I wrote to amazon to inform them of this issue (thinking that I got a defective product). Amazon is always the best! They sent out replacement right away. The replacement worked fine until the first heavy rain. Now the sensor looks like it had been submerged into water and again no matter how much i try to adjust the knobs (ya, that's another pain point); it's staying on. That just means its pretty much useless once again!

Update: I called the warranty department last week and left a voice message, but they haven't returned my call back yet. (They mention in their message that they will return the call in 1 business day). Anyway, its frustrating to deal with this anymore. Please don't buy this one, if you want peace of mind.

Even with the unit set for maximum sensitivity, many times I can walk right by it at night and it doesn't detect my motion and turn on. Sometimes it does, but not usually. If I put my hand up near it, it will usually react. I installed this near a back door so that if someone were at the back door it would light up for security reasons, but it rarely does so.

I put 5 of these lights up by myself, although I was replacing old lights. These lights look great on our house, and work just fine. I noticed on the front porch where my wife had some christmas lights, the motion detectors did not work properly. Once the christmas lights were taken down, the motion lights worked as they should. I am very satisfied with these lights,they look great,work just fine,easy to install.

I replaced a Yard Light on the rear of my home with a Designers Edge 70W Dusk to Dawn Yard Light.

I found the light to be well built, weather sealed and very simple to install,

The light is mounted 12 feet above ground level and lights and area about 100ft by 100ft with

direct lighting and ambient light covering almost twice that area. Perfect for my yard and not shinning in my neighbors windows.

I'm guessing mounted higher direct lighting could cover almost twice that area.

My dogs luv it for now they can "See 2 P' " and spot Bunnies to chase at nite, anyplace in the yard.

Amazon not only beat the best price I could find local by about $15 bucks,

but gave me "FREE SHIPPING" besides.

I rate this product at 5 Stars, my dogs give it "4 PAWS-UP"

I purchased this light, and failed to notice , the light would turn off for periods of time, since I work the night shift, and my window to return to amazon expired, before I was aware of this problem. I tried to contact designer edge by their phone number, number no longer in service, by e-mail no reply, this light is poorly designed, and would not recommend to anyone.

These gorgeous lamps caught my eye. After years of searching, I was ready to bid farewell to my Southwestern bean-pots and their coolie hat shades. When the compact Pondex package arrived at my door step, sadly the lamps' warts, also appeared. The resin lamps multi segments and leaf rings were loosely attached. This required quite a bit of rotating, to find a sweet spot for half decent alignment, making the listing lamps stand straight. Turning and adjusting the rings scraped the urns. Keep a black magic marker handy for touch ups. The lamp warts got worse. The fold up, (yes think accordion,) bell shades had permanent wrinkles where the gold silk was adhered to the backing. Iron out the wrinkles and the shade sags at the bottom. I finally ripped out the sticky bottom, re-sewed it taut, and re-adhered it with a hot iron. One shade arrived with a hot glue hole that required careful sewing. This was too much fun; the last straw was the wood finials, each cut and drilled at an angle, so they appeared bent and useless. I had two antique brass ones I commandeered from other lamps. Angered, I considered sending my warty beauties back to Pondex, but feared getting a worse batch. The two beautiful lamps from my batch had no quality control from China. I truly hope my rotten experience was a fluke. I gave them three stars, because a designer came up with a gorgeous lamp; the execution and machining leave much to be desired, unless you like a warty beauty!

This light is great, the light it puts out is bright and it looks awesome in my bathroom. There just one thing a buyer should be aware of.

1. It is BIG and Heavy. the glass squares are not cheap glass or plastic, those babies are thick. and the base has some weight to it in addition. The area I was putting it in did not have a gang box for the light, so I ended up putting one in because there is no way I would trust this light in drywall. if you have a mounting gangbox you should be golden but in older houses you might want to check before purchase.

We purchased this light for our powder room. The lamp is very solid, and attractive, and gives off an amazing amount of light. My complaint, which caused me to remove 2 stars is in a certain design issue. The lamp is secured to the electrical box with 2 supplied screws. However, even with the glass taken off, the top screw is very difficult to reach with a screw driver of event modest length. This hole should have been made slightly higher or some mechanism put in place to twist the support clockwise temporarily while the lamp is attached.

I like this light fixture a lot it fits in really well to bungalow and/or Arts and Crafts style bathrooms. It gives off a lot of light and, unlike a lot of fixtures that give off a lot of light, it uses standard bulbs, in incandescent or compact fluorescent versions. The finish on the glass is nice and I like the chrome finish on the metal (all this brushed nickel business is getting a little overdone for me).

The one thing to know about this fixture is that it is NOT lightweight. You need to have a well-installed wall box the light fixture I was replacing was simply attached to the NM cable coming out of the wall (which I doubt is to code, but I've seen it often enough that I wanted to mention the possibility to others), so if you have a situation like that, you WILL have to install a light fixture box first.

I am renovating my bathroom and I needed to get a new vanity light, so when I came across this one I was a little worried because there were no reviews. But I loved it and so of course I had to purchase it. I must say I was VERY happy with it. It is a little on the small side, but my bathroom is small so it looks great! I got the 3 light with the satin nickel finish. I think it was worth the price. I have not seen anything like this light at a local store. This fixture is attractive, but from a functional standpoint is poorly designed, and the packaging for shipment is poor. The first one arrived with one of the glass covers broken. Amazon (with its excellent customer service) promptly sent a replacement. Only after the light was installed did I notice that it throws its light upward and outward, but not downward like you would expect from a bathroom vanity light. The bottom of the fixture has semicircular metal pieces with very small holes (pinholes almost) that sit under the bulbs and block the light from projecting downward. Because of the way the glass shades fit in the fixture, it is not reversible (they would fall out if installed in reverse). The result is that a light over the mirror does a very poor job of illuminating your face (which seems to be the whole point of having a light over the mirror). I would not recommend this fixture.

After reading other reviews that weren't very good, I decided to go ahead and take a chance. I was apprehensive about that chance when my order 1st arrived.there was broken glass from one of the covers and missing light bulbs. I went ahead and ordered a replacement, determined to make these lights work in my vanity. It was easy to see why there were so many complaints about the amount of light put out. The fixture simply needed to be mounted upside down. This did require securing the glass covers, which slide in and are not secured in a reverse mounting. That was easy enough to do. I added a small bead of clear silicone along the edges of the metal where the glass slides in. The bulbs do tend to get hot, which leaves a concern over the bulb falling out over time due to the plastic base and mogul. This will have to be seen over time.

Reversing the mount was ideal for the light to be directed downward towards the mirror and not up towards the ceiling. It also allows some light to be directed upward thought the metal grate leaving an interesting pattern on the ceiling and wall above the fixture. This is much better than having the pattern directed on the mirror and subsequently on my face while fixing hair or shaving, when light is at a premium.

Unless you want to try modifying this fixture as I did, I would not recommend placing it over a vanity. It might make for nice ambient lighting in a bedroom though.

In terms of looks the lamp does not disappoint. The paper shades with the bamboo imprint filter and mute the light an create a nice ambiance without being too dark ideal for a bedroom nightstand. The construction, while not shoddy, is also not solid enough to risk placing the lamp in high traffic areas I doubt the frame would survive a fall off of a hallway accent table, for example. I improved the stability significantly by simply gluing the top portion, which is left loose intentionally to make changing the bulb easier, into place permanently. You can still swap out the bulb via the bottom if you do this.

A nifty and unique item that will lend a bit of authentic looking Asian style to your home.

I really like this lamp. It fits the room that we bought it for very well. But,assembly was a nightmare. It came folded flat, the four corners are attached to one another by some kind of glue and fabric hinge and the one I had, had adhered to the ones on the other side making it impossible to open. It came with a single sheet of illustrations but no words, it was no help at all. I ended up cracking two of the legs and eventually took a razor knife to cut the hinge free on one corner and carefully open it up. I then used silicone glue to repair the damage that I had done. All in all, way too much hassle for this product that I paid forty to fifty dollars for.

I just got this and set it up. It was quite easy to put together since there is only one part that needs to be added. The socket needs to have the light bulb (a 15 watt maximum chandelier style/night light bulb) attached and then it needs to be clipped inside the tea pot.

This is made a lot sturdier than I expected I expected something quite delicate and prone to breakage, but for all the beauty this has it feels like it will take normal wear and tear without falling apart first thing.

The glass colors are lovely all shades of green, blue, red, pink and lavender with accents of yellow and deep gold, set into a background of a creamy white/pale gold.

This was packaged very, very well and should suffer no damage in shipping.

It isn't as bright as I would have liked and I would have appreciated knowing the wattage before I bought it (this is why I deducted half a star in my rating), but that's OK; it is so beautiful in my kitchen bay window, that I will just use it as a night light and not the brighter 25 or 50 watt accent light I would have liked.

This is the fourth Hunter Low Profile ceiling fan we've purchased for our home. This 42-inch four-blade model is perfect for smaller bedrooms with eight-foot ceilings. The housing fits nicely on the ceiling where the light fixture was, it doesn't hang down too low, and it's very quiet for sleeping. This is a nice ceiling fan, but a design flaw in installation components can complicate its installation. Unless you can cut an 8" hole in your ceiling dry wall and recess the ceiling mounting bracket 1/2" into the drywall you are going to have a 1/2" space between the top of the fan housing and the finished ceiling. This is caused by a poorly designed mounting bracket. The only other way to get around cutting a larger hole in your drywall is to purchase or make a decorative ceiling circle to fill in this 1/2" void between the finished ceiling and the top of the fan housing. I made my own, but that turned a 2 hour job into a 4 day event. Sometimes I wonder if the people who design these products have ever tried installing them. By the way, this fan is advertised as having plastic blades-actually the blades are made of MDF (medium density fiberboard). 4 stars instead of 5 because of the installation difficulties.

This is a no-frills ceiling fan for smaller rooms. No remote, no fancy chain plugs but it works and is VERY quiet. I did not need to balance the blades at all.

The installation is a little strange. The fan does not come with screws for your electrical box but instead comes with screws to drive up through the wall covering (drywall, plaster, etc.) and into the structure beneath. When I remodelled I installed metal boxes for my wiring mounted between the joists with a 2x4 and 3" wood screws. Luckily for me I was able to drive the screws up through the drywall and into this 2x4 I extended between the joists. For anyone else wanting to use their reinforced box they will need to purchase their own machine screws or hope that the ones that came with their box are long enough to reach through the mounting bracket. Mine were not, however, I was able to use the wood screws included with the fan.

There are four bushings that sit between the bracket and the ceiling that make the bracket feel much more "sturdy" and allows you to tighten the screws quite well to prevent any wobbling or vibration.

The blades install to the decorative arm with "grommets" inserted into holes in the blades. The screws will not tighten all the way down but will instead leave some "wiggle" in the arms and fan blade. I was concerned about this at first but after installing and running the fan at full speed my concerns were unfounded. The fan is sturdy and quiet.

All-in-all this is an excellent product and really fits the bill nicely when you want a flush-mount fan with no light kit. Keep in mind, however, that this fan leaves about 1/2 to 5/8" of space between the ceiling and fan shroud, so if you have a rather large hole you're trying to cover you'll need a ceiling medallion. Thankfully I finished my boxes with no gap in the drywall around them so I did not have the need for a medallion.

If you do have to use the box machine screws to hold your bracket and feel less than comfortable with how secure your bracket is I suggest buying some red Loc-Tite for installing the screws. Apply liberally to the threads on the screws and, once dried, your screws will not back themselves out no matter how much the fan vibrates.

One excellent idea that the manufacturer did was include extra fasteners! If you drop one of the pretty blade mounting screws you will have an extra one. I had an extra blade mounting screw, bushing, and blade to bracket screw in each of my three fan kits.

Beautiful lights. We had been watching for these and finally found them at an excellent price on amazon. Seller shipped on time. Lights are Lights were easy to install but the electric box on the ceiling is just a little bit bigger than the crown piece for the light so a little bit of blue from the electric box showed. We covered with it up with a dab of ceiling paint. The hang so nicely that they enhance the beauty of the granite countertop on the kitchen island. We picked this color because our island is dark toned (Sapphire Brown Granite).
