I have had one of these for 1.5 years and just ordered another. They are very expensive, but are well designed.

Pros:

Beautiful finish

Heavy quality feel

Heavy duty attachment bracket

Single attachment point can be located on stud for extra strength

Plastic rings make roll slide easily

Very easy to change roll

Ball on end of hook does not slow rotation of roll, but is good a preventing the roll from slipping off.

Cons:

These things are expensive! Close to $100 with shipping.

It only comes with the hook in one direction. I have installed both of mine so that the roll is pulled into the hook when removing paper. I have not tried it the other way where removing paper would pull the roll toward the ball and potentially out of the hook. This could still work, because the ball is fairly good at preventing the roll from coming off, but if at all possible, I would install it so that the roll is pulled into the hook instead of out of it when removing paper.

I have noticed that the plastic rings are not made of a wear resistant plastic and over time they wear down, but this does not seem to affect much, as the roll still slides well. Use of an Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene plastic would have been better.

I ordered this lamp because it was reasonably priced and a nice mix of my favorite colors. Trouble is, the rug in my livingroom is more of a robin's egg blue, and this lamp is more on the violet blue side (with a smattering of pink). Oh, it's a beautiful lamp, and was well-packaged and shipped promptly. No complaints whatsoever! And I'm definitely keeping it because it's so pretty. And I'll patronize this merchant again, I'm sure. I guess I was just overzealous in getting a blue tiffany lamp. No matter. I like the foot switch as well, and when it's illuminated ... WOW!

I wasn't particularly looking for a lamp at the time since I needed other things also. I came across this by accident. Good decision since the quality is there. The bronze really stands out. I was worried about the height; but it looks good on the far corner of my desk. I used a clear bulb since I wanted a little more light at times. I then glued a dimmer switch to my desk pad that has a sliding bar which is easy to reach. Both cords are hidden which otherwise drives me crazy. It's worked out nicely. I would definitely recommend this product.

Every part of the light was tight and well made. Wiring was also well insulated.Installation was a breeze. Very well made and would be good for some lighting over a dining room table. The fixture will accept up to a 150 watt. We put a 100w GE Reveal and it barely lights up our 12 x 12 kitchen. Hopefully when we replace the bulb (soon) with a clear globe style 150 watt things will be brighter!

This is a high quality lamp. Made with heavy gauge metal. I purchased the dark bronze and it looks great. It was a snap to put together. I really like the heavy base with it's hard rubber pads. It will not mark up my hardwood floor. The lamp is very easy to raise and lower and swing into place. One thing to note...... the lamp itself...... ie...... the curvature is not adjustable. It is a fixed metal curve.......

I'm very happy with this lamp. It is very high quality, easy to put together and takes any normal standard light bulb. Many of the other lamps I looked at had unique, hard to find light bulbs. I think this is a significant benefit to this product. Its also a good height, I think some of the others were shorter, and I needed a little extra height to match the height of my bed for reading. Great product.

Prior to purchasing this lamp for my living room I was using a "swing arm" style lamp that had seen its days. I looked through quite a number of different types of lamps on Amazon and narrowed my search down to 4 lamps. I then read the reviews on each and decided on this one.

My decision was based not only on appearance but also because another reviewer mentioned the heavy base, which is crucial for me as I have it on carpet next to my recliner.

When the lamp arrived it was undamaged and easy to assemble. I added my own CFL bulb and happily discovered that with my "100 watt" equivalent CFL the light output was actually too much as the lamp has a silver reflector plate that reflects light out into the room. I decreased my CFL to a "6o watt" equivalent bulb and the light is perfect for reading and other uses. This lamp also uses the "old fashioned"standard bulbs.

This lamp is well made and handsome in appearance and does have a "heavy base" that provides stability even on carpet.

I highly recommend this lamp if you are in the market for this style lamp. I would recommend this lamp to a friend.

You get what you pay for. I purchased this lamp because the pictures looked similar to lamps costing $100 more. It arrived with a nick in the base and a slight bump in the shade (manufactured that way, not a shipping problem). It is not solid dark bronze but accented by brass colored lines on all the edges of the shade and in concentric circles on the base, making the overall effect that of a cheap lamp. I went back to look at the photos and even enlarged, this does not show. Although the base is heavy, it still leans a little. The lamp provides good light with a standard bulb, but that's about all I can say for it.

I need to qualify my review. I bought two of these listed as "Used-Good." I received one and installed it. The other is still in transit. I'll review it separately if necessary. I knew I was taking a chance, but the price was only $13.46 each, shipping included. How could I go wrong? My existing porch lamps were old and showing that rust that comes through brass plating. This unit is described as "solid brass." It says so on the lamp on a tag attached. Another tag indicates a "Lifetime Warranty" on electrical parts only, not on the finish. This lamp looks new! I can't find a mark on it. Two small brass cap nuts were not included. These nuts are used to fasten the entire lamp to the wall mounting. I bought some plated ones at Lowes. I flipped the switch and on came my new great looking porch lamp. What a deal! I hope I can say it again when my other lamp arrives.

Update: The second lamp came in without any damage and it had a hardware pack for installation. The pack included brass cap nuts.

Originally I ordered 2 of these lights. They arrived in an Amazon box with the original product packaging inside. These units are made in China, and the original packaging looks like its been through a war. The packaging is also very flimsy, and in my opinion for a delicate item like this is totally inadequate.

Amazon promptly replaced the damaged unit, and I received another that is damaged even worse that the previous one.

So I am returning both units today for a refund. In my opinion, Amazon should drop Quoizel as a vendor and stop taking any orders as long as they keep sending inadequate and severely damaged packaging and product.

I have hundreds of previous orders with Amazon and this is by far the worst product packaging issue I have had. Amazon has been very prompt and courteous with the returns, but overall I think they would do better to weed out vendors of this quality.

I'm going back to Amazon to search for new lights, but definely not from Quoizel.
