This is my second one of these bulb changers. The first one I had for about 10 years, before it gave out. I was pleased to find a new one on amazon, and use it often -it is the best type of changer I have ever used.

Review of Rite-O-Lite 01140 - BC114 VAC-A-BULB CHANGER Light Bulb Changers
When we moved into our house in 1991, I asked my architect how I was supposed to change the recessed lights (floods) in the high ceilings. He told me that he would hire an electrician. I found this vac-a-bulb device in some gizmo catalogue somewhere and ordered it with two extentions. It has worked great, but now after 20 years, the vacuum has died. I was delighted to see that they are still available so that I can order a new one.

Don't waste your money on these fixtures, particularly on the aluminum versions if you live near saltwater. Instead, buy one of the brass LED versions of this fixture, e.g., 15764BBR. The brass LED fixtures are not that much more expensive and will quickly pay for themselves in maintenance savings. Note that if you have an electronic transformer, you may need to upgrade it to a transformer compatible with LED fixtures.

It is VERY difficult to find: (1) an outdoor light that is (2) approved for use near water and (3) unobtrusive while being (4) bright enough to illuminate a walkway. Did I mention that it also needed to be (5) affordable? This light fits all of those 'bills'.Though the brochures show this as being mounted on a vertical surface, I mounted mine flush with the deck of a bridge. The housing is secure enough that It doesn't pop-off when I'm sweeping snow, and well enough designed that rainwater drains away without shorting out the system.
Yet the housing is also incredibly simple to remove when I need to change the bulb. The only advice I would give is that if you're going to mount this such that it is at the line-of-site level, the bulbs provided are WAY too bright. I had to drop down from the 25w clear halogens provided to 5w frosted halogens to accommodate road traffic 50 feet away.
Regardless, I am thrilled, thrilled, thrilled with this product.

Savoy House 6-4384-13-178 Flush Mount with White Etched Shades Review
Upon receiving this item, the metal ring around the lower portion of the light had come unglued and was disconnected from the glass. At that point, we had to decide whether to return the item, wait to get a replacement, etc. or simply re-glue the ring ourselves. It seemed as though the original glue was defective as it was discolored. After scraping all the old glue off the ring and the glass fixture, we reattached the ring. It works and looks just fine.

Buy Maxim 91078MRCS 1-Light Pendant Country Stone Marble Glass
I bought this in the Country Stone finish on clearance and converted it to a swag chain lamp for a loft room. If I remember right, this lamp comes with about 6 feet of chain and 20 feet of cord. It also comes with a swivel pendant mount. I used a swag lamp kit to convert this. The lamp body and the large 18" diameter glass reflector, along with the related hardware, are all good quality and finish. It uses bulbs with a standard base.

Buy Ikea Ps Maskros Pendant Lamp
We love our new light fixture. It is a great focal point and conversation piece. Shipping was cheaper than driving to Ikea. Had earlier passed it up at Ikea. So glad to have it now. Did use brighter bulb than it called for and put it on a dimmer switch for greater effect. Love, love, love it!

If you love this light, be absolutely sure you have a big enough room with very high ceilings. It's beautiful, but it's 32" in diameter and you'll need another 6+ inches of loose cord to the base, plus the base is another 5". Hanging in a big stairwell, I am in love with this light. Easily installed and assembled. It is a large presence, while still airy looking. Just perfect. My mother received two "ginger jar" lamps from my father when he was in Vietnam (1968). She had these turned into lamps with the appropriate wiring and lamp shades. When I inherited these lamps, there was much work to be done to them. For one thing, the wiring had to be replaced -one lamp blew a fuse the very day that I moved into my home. So, I acquired the re-wiring kits from Amazon.com (a great deal!). Next, we needed shades. Much as I love my mother, she was extremely tight with the nickel, if you will. I don't think I have ever known anyone as good with money as she was. . . Unfortunately, the lamp shades that she had for these lamps were worn out, inappropriate, and (yes) even the wrong color. I waited and searched on Amazon.com for something that would work with these lamps -and learning about lamp sizing along the way. This shade was perfect! And the price was even better. . . something I could live with. The whole living room takes on a different -and improved -feel with these lamp shades.
