This is a well-made light for this price range. It was easy to install and it looks nice in our bathroom. I almost did not order this product because of the previous 3-star "defective" rating. However, upon closer inspection you can see that the other reviewer had broken glass, not a defective product. I would recommend this light for anybody who likes this design and is looking in this price range.

I wanted a plain and simple lighting for my bathroom sink and this unit works well with the faucet and towel racks.

Sort of a Zen appearance. I can't attest to the installation because my handyman installed it in no time at all!

These look great installed. I was unsure about buying them sight unseen but the quality is great and they are the perfect size for our small kitchen (we used 3 of them). Might be too small for a large open ceiling space. Lots of light output as well.

I assembled this as instructed, but it stands a little crooked. I won't bother to return it because it's too much trouble. But if you want a really nice lamp, look some more. This is not so great looking. Just OK.

I looked all over town for a swag light and could not find one. I hesistated buying "on line" I like to see what I buy, but this swag is beautiful. It is simple (I bought a plain white one), well made, and looks beautiful hanging in my family room. It even came with the hooks for hanging it. We drilled a couple of holes and had it up in no time. There was also the option to screw the hooks in. And I love you can put a 100 watt bulb in it. It really lights up the room.

This lamp was purchased to use in a re-purposed bedroom, now a "utility room". As a bedroom, bedside lamps were sufficient, but with no ceiling lamp most of the utility room was in shadows. There was enough chain and electric cord to place the lampp in the middle of the room. Fantastic!

Have been looking for a neutral drum light for dining room and not finding exactly what I wanted. Took a chance with this and am more than thrilled! Color is perfect with my oak furniture and cream woodwork. Shade has a soft, linen texture when illuminated and appears darker than beige, more of a yellow/tan. The diffuser fits tighter than some drum lights I have seen and looks better than I could have imagined! My biggest concern involved the 3 light stem color choices. I prefer black and it is not available. My intention was to spray paint it so it would match my curtain rods, but much to my amazement, the antique bronze is dark enough to pass for black.

I installed it myself in less than an hour and can't wait for my husband to come home and see the great job I did. Also would like to add that this shade has a bit of a retro feel and I am using it in a decor that is more Danish Modern, but you could use it in just about any setting. I give this shade and pendant two thumbs up!!!!

It makes our basement look very elegant and modern. It's a little spendy, but it was the only one I could find online that was a large drum shade. Nice neutral color that would go with any decor.

This is just what I was looking for. I would suggest getting this size over the smaller version as this size is perfect to fit over a standard dining table. This does come with a bottom diffuser but not a top one. This however is not a problem. It looks great once installed. The color of mine is pretty much like the image.

** Remember this is only the shade and you will need to purchase the light stem** I highly recommend the P5199-20 3-Light Stem. I think they make a one light version but this would not be enough light at all.

In spite of the two less than glowing reviews, I decided to go with the American Lighting xenon pucks. I needed a total of 20 pucks (five 4-packs). Do to limited quantity available here, I had to purchase several packs from another vendor. Thus, I have multiple sources to derive data. So far (2-weeks), I am pleased with the results. Granted, the bulbs may start failing, but every light worked the first time, the fixtures are no less quality than to be expected, and they were relatively easy to install. Actually, the only way it could have been easier is if I would have installed them before the cabinets went up! I spaced them at 9" on-center, and at about 18" above the countertop I have very even light distribution and to a desirable level of brightness. Although I did not take any measurements, the boss likes it (Think wife!).

I understand that these are not very expensive items, but they simply fail at an unacceptable rate. Two out of the six I purchased have now failed. What's worse is that the failure mechanism is not repairable. I took one apart to see what went wrong, after all it was not working anyway. I found that the socket that the bulb plugs into is so poorly designed, that eventually (a few months after installation) it will fail, even if you don't touch it I mean the socket, not the bulb. This is poorly engineered garbage. Don't waste your money. If it was free, I wouldn't pay the shipping. As an aside, while they are working, the 20 watt xenon light is great for undercounter kitchen lighting, it's just the fixture from American (made in China) Lighting that blows.

August, 2009 update: I was sent two extras as replacements so I now own 8 units. Only two are still working. Much credit to the engineers at American Lighting for creating such a reliable failure mechanism.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING THIS COMPANY MANUFACTURES. We spent hours installing two sets of these, and a month later the first bulb blew. Went back to the store ($2 each way on the subway) and bought a few bulbs. After hours of trying unsuccessly to replace the tiny bulb (could not get it into the tiney socket), the two of us gave up. Three months later the second bulb died and we tried again, to no avail. We finally just unplugged the stupid thing. The second fixture has been burning for two years with no problems. EVERY American Lighting product I have bought has been of AWFUL quality. I have tried flourescent fixtures and bulbs, and their bulbs burn out faster than incandescent!! -they should last for years, not weeks or months.

I installed eight of these two years ago. On installation I drilled holes for recessed mounting with a hole saw. Although I am a careful workman, anyone who has used hole saws knows that they do not cut exactly on size but sometimes will be 1/16 or so over. These lights don't like that and the poor design of the retainer device makes them a loose fit in the hole. Since then I have found that the bulbs are a smaller size than the standard and thus harder to find. Further, you must find xenon bulbs, which are less common than the halogen ones, because the halogen ones burn to hot. Finally, in time the heat causes the plastic bezel to become brittle and crumble when you try to remove it to replace the bulb.

In sum, DO NOT buy plastic puck lights if you're using xenon or halogen bulbs. While plastic might be OK for LEDs, it is not OK for the hotter xenon and halogen bulbs. All metal, 12 volt, puck lights are available here on Amazon and I'm going to pull these and replace them with the all metal ones that I should have used in the first place.

I have had these lights for 3.5 years now and they are still going strong. I flush mounted them and they look great. Everyone was using halogens with low voltage but I didn't want to deal with transformers. I would have no problem buying these again. I dont know what the bad reviews are about. If I were doing it again today I might go with one of the LED options out there, but I have no complaints with these.
