We got this for our autistic son who has been leaving lights on when he goes to bed. This lamp has a timer on it and will shut off after an hour. Perfect for the situation. He doesn't need to leave lights on any more. The only thing I would say is that these really are lasers so you can't look into the laser....I know, common sense but, the "stars" are projected in a wide area so you have to be careful you don't accidently have contact. The lamp does have a fail safe that will turn the lasers off if you stand in front of it. As for our son, he does understand what lasers can do to your vision so he is not in danger of looking into the lasers.

I saw this same lamp featured in Ballard's Design for more money. It was pretty easy to install, it's literally just a matter of wrapping the cord around the plastic spool as many times as you like, depending on how low you want the pendant to hang, and then screwing in the adapter to the recessed light fixture and using the screw over the plate to tighten it flush against the wall.

If I can do it, anyone can do it!

The only thing I would note is that Ballard's Design had a much greater selection of shades, including a very interesting shade made of cork, and another wicker one. Still, I can't complain about the price.

I was also surprised at how much light I now have over my kitchen sink. I suspect that much of the light being emitted from the sides of the bulb was lost in the recessed fixture, but now that it hangs a good 12 to 15 inches lower and is not within a recessed cavity, I have so much more light from the same watt bulb.

This product is easy to screw into the socket and tighten up the cord, but it does not remain tight to the ceiling. They look great in place though.

I got this to go into a can light over our sink that do much for light or appearance. This took about 15 minutes to install and most of that was just looking at the product, once I figured out what to do and thinking "is it really this easy??" it only took minutes to install. Looks great!

My only complaint is that it is a little tricky to get the mount flush against the ceiling as my light socket has some flex to it, so I figured out that I needed to pull down on the cord as I tightened the nut on the plate.

This is a beautiful light and it takes a standard bulb and work with a standard dimmer. It was very easy to install. We have a slanted ceiling and the ceiling plate adapted to the slope no problem. It will work on any ceiling. My experience with this fixture has been very positive. I had tried to find a pendant conversion at both of the large home stores but they all called for this very low light Edison bulb & I needed more task lighting over my sink. I ordered this pendant & LOVE IT

We installed this lamp over our sinks during a bathroom remodel, and love the look and the amount of light they produce.

The lamps do not hang from cords. They mount directly to the base via an aluminum tube, with the decorative piece being one of them. The extension tube was not needed for our project, and would only be used for high ceilings. The tube is thin-walled, so could be cut to size, if you are somewhat handy with tools.

Overall, this is a nice looking, easy to install lamp, at a great price.

Okay folks, this is my fourth and LAST floor lamp I buy from Target. Where do I start? The wire that runs through the lamp always get stressed during assembly and my last two broke. One came not working at all. After a couple of months all Target floor lamps break, whether it is the pole that holds up the lamp, or the on off switch. This particular beauty came broken right out of the box. One of the threads were stripped on the legs so the lamp kept falling over, after a modification with electrical tape, i got it working. Unfortunatley they package this stuff so crazy it is more hassle than it is worth to disassemble and return to Target. Please do yourself a favor, spend the extra money and go to a real lighting store.

I love this lamp. Everyone compliments me on it and it looks really nice in my living room with what I put on the shelves. My only complaint is when I put it together it had big stickers on every shelf...the kind that don't come off and I hate that. I had to scrub at them for hours with cleaners, and there's still the sticky residue on the shelves. But other than that it's great and it lights up the room very well.

This is a great cheap lamp. Of course it is cheap so don't expect quality. It was easy to put together, I personally didn't need the directions for most of it, and it is very attractive. After about a year and a half I started experiencing the trouble with the light switch that many of the other reviewers mentioned. I used some pliers to turn it off and on for a few weeks as the cord is plugged in behind a heavy bookcase. Not very convenient. So I finally got it unplugged and took the top apart and replaced the socket the bulb inserts into. (like this one Turn Knob Lamp Socket) Annoying, but a simple fix. It will probably be fine now that is has a better quality piece there. Sad, but most likely true.

I bought this lamp over two years ago, and while it looked great and served its purpose, it just stopped working. I did experience the threading on the light switch causing difficulties turning it on, like one reviewer reported.

I could get it to work after that still, but now it won't work at all. It's cheap enough to buy another I suppose, but I absolutely LOVE this lamp and don't want to buy it every 2-3yrs.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have spent the money on a more quality lamp that looked just as nice but lasted a little longer.

The light fixture came complete and my electrician hooked it up without any problems. This fixture gives out a lot of light in my small kitchen and I do not have anymore dark areas when the light is on. There is a bit of glare after awhile, but I rather have the light coverage than worry about the glare.

This reading lamp is an adaptation of a common mid-century lamp design.

I have expensive very modern imported glossy white floor lamps which are always breaking so I needed a reading lamp that could co-exist with them in a room. This fits in surprisingly well, once again proving that you don't need to spend a mint or shop at IKEA to get good, clean design.

I am using it with a 50w / 120v PAR-20 Halogen bulb, so I am getting much more light than I would from the 60 watt max it is rated for or, after 2014, than a CFL would produce. Except for the on/off switch, the lamp is made entirely of metal, which means that there won't be a heat problem from the bulb.

I just set it up tonight and I am happier than I thought I would be with this lamp.

I purchased two of these lamps. The On-Off knob is a half-dome shaped big piece of plastic that covers a shaft. After a few uses the plastic dome stops turning the shaft. The On-Off knob quickly became useless on both of my lamps. I would have returned them but the window of opportunity has long since passed. One star.

Secondly, the threads in the metal barrel became stripped and the lamp is constantly leaning over and falling. Don't buy.

I use this as a lamp to work on projects. It works great for that purpose. My only complaint with it is that somehow, even when no one has touched it, it seems to work its way loose, requiring re-tightening the whole entire lamp after awhile. Just an irritation. Other than that, it's a good lamp.

This looks amazing and was easy to put up. We did spray the small cap on the diffuser oil rubbed bronze. It helped it tie into the rest of our fan and I think made it look more expensive. Great product and an easy update to older fans!

I ordered two of these fans for smaller 10x10 bedrooms. These are an excellent size for those rooms. The fans look very attractive, and so far are dead quite seems very like Hunter. And on high, these move a lot of air. However, the step down to medium speed is slower than I expected, but no too bad. Installation instructions were clear, and hardware was all good. But, the 3 inch wood screws to mount the plate to the outlet box are not great using soft brass screws on the heads is a BAD idea as they tend to strip. If you are installing these, and even if you pre-drill using the 9/64" recommended bit, use a hand tool only and not a drill. If these start to strip, take them out right away it will NOT get better! I ended up using 3" screws designed for wood decking, and they worked great. Rest of screws and hardware are all good. The ceiling cap that goes around the cone seems to fit loosely, but doesn't move or vibrate during use, so not a big deal for me. Depending on your ceiling height, the pull chains may be too short. (You may also want to cut the wires coming from the fan to a shorter length if you are not using a very long down rod, but only if you're comfortable doing so.)

These hunter fans have a very common part for the light system. lasts very short amount of time then lights go out. Don't worry though there is a lifetime warranty right... wrong when you call for warranty the hunter people tell you no you have a one year parts warranty. the lifetime warranty is only on the fan motor. but they can sell you the whole light assembly (cant just sell bad part, parts not sold sep.) for almost $40 with $8~ shipping. you can almost buy another fan assembly for that. this is terrible customer service. I told them this had a lifetime warranty and I want the part replaced... they told me that I should have read the fine print for the warranty!!!! spend the extra money on a better unit! or you will regret it later! I only had this a year and a few months! just google about light problems with hunter fans and see for your self!

I got this as a supplemental light for a grow area with some young tomatoes. I have to say that the light intensity is right as I expected a 175w supplemental light would be.

After moving things around, I now have 5 plants under this light. Amazingly enough, the heat signature is extremely small for a HID. Plants can be placed only a few inches from the light, maximizing efficiency.

Apparently, the bulb this comes with is a, "full spectrum" kind of light, and I tend to see that. The glow from this bulb is just a little more yellowish that my other metal halide which is 6500k. No worries, it should work just fine and when not busy, would be a good additional (but not substitute) light for flowering.

Bear in mind, this thing takes a very long time to warm up. While this is true for most MH lights, the mini sunburst seems to want a good 30 minutes to be at full capacity. That's perfectly ok as when the light is running, I leave it running almost all day.

I'd recommend this to anyone growing indoors that needs a small light in a heat prone environment. It more than pulls its weight.

This is a great little light if you're only doing a few little plants. I would only recommend doing about a two foot by two foot area as others have stated. Anything larger or very tall would require at least a 400 watt package. I would like to say that it is a great, plug-and-play unit that works well. It will start cold(around 50 F) and runs well, no flickering or that sort of thing. This unit is not NEARLY as inefficient as the Sun System 150 Watt HPS package, which runs at 3.3 amps continuously, but still has its own inadequacies. Warmed up it will run at around 1.75 amps which equates to 210 VA. But Hydrofarm knows, by far, more about what they are doing than sun system. GOOD BUY!

I bought this for my 2x3 veg area. It works very well, nice and bright in that small of a space. I wouldn't use it for any larger than that. It doesn't throw a whole lot of heat from the bulb but the ballast heats up quite a bit so you will need some ventilation. Very good light overall, I'm very happy with the results so far, the plants love it.
