We got this for our autistic son who has been leaving lights on when he goes to bed. This lamp has a timer on it and will shut off after an hour. Perfect for the situation. He doesn't need to leave lights on any more. The only thing I would say is that these really are lasers so you can't look into the laser....I know, common sense but, the "stars" are projected in a wide area so you have to be careful you don't accidently have contact. The lamp does have a fail safe that will turn the lasers off if you stand in front of it. As for our son, he does understand what lasers can do to your vision so he is not in danger of looking into the lasers.

I was expecting white twinkling stars, but they are green. The program for display is predictable, repetitive. There are no constellations. But it does function. I've been looking for a long time for ceiling stars and this one was rated the best.
