I bought these lights for our motorhome awning. We sometimes get back to the motorhome after dark and it's difficult to cook on the barbecue grill. I put 60 watt bulbs in each light and there is more than enough light. In fact, I am going to change some of the lights to 40 watt because you can see our motorhome from way down the road due to the lights being so bright. The lights seem to be very sturdy plastic, the cord is very long and stretchy. Amazon had a great price. They definitely light up our camp site. And they look great. During the holidays, I'm going toput different color lights in them also to decorate. Highly recommend them. We had tried so many other less expensive light strings but they never provided enough light. This string does the trick!

These lights are very good quality and could handle the wattage of full bulbs if you need to. But what I recommend is using the colored fluorescent bulbs. I tailgate and I bought these lights to use with two specific colors of 13 watt fluorescent bulbs. Here's what I think:

1) The hooks work great for me. I actually run a rope across my electric awning and use these across the entire 20 feet. I have to hook one to each side to get the stretch with the coiled cable.

2) Fluorescent light bulbs fit great and if you pick colored ones, you can set this up for any mood you'd like. You can also pick team colors and really support tailgating without spending extra money for "branded" bulbs.

3) Putting 13 watt bulbs in will save you tons of money over 6x60 watt bulbs. They may be a little more expensive at first, but over the long run the savings will pay off

4) The housing is high quality, and while the price is steep, its worth it.

I recommend buying these lights, and getting a nice cheap duffle bag to store them in.

The lights work great. They are made very sturdy and have plenty of cord between the lights and also at the plug in end. The plastic bulbs are made of thick plastic not the thin stuff. I have two suggestions: one you may consider using the smallest wattage bulbs we did (20 watts each) and you can still see us throughout the whole campground and my other recommendation is to use 2 straps one on each side of the bulb to hang them otherwise they hang cockeyed.

I purchased 3 of these pendants for over my island, and I have to say I LOVE the look of them. I don't find them to look cheap at all. The metal on the inside of the 'cage' that goes around the bulb is a little uneven in places, but its not noticeable. And yes, my 3 pendants arrived with at least 25 broken pieces across all three. But each package came with many extra pieces, so I just swapped out the extras for the broken ones. I am bothered that there seems to be no way to get additional pieces, because I'm sure that when these need to be cleaned, I will have more casualties, but I think they look elegant, modern and I love them. They are unique, and I love that my island doesn't look like every other person's island with boring pottery barn pendants!

I honestly CANNOT believe that some idiot packaged this crystal mini-chandelier assembled!! Needless to say, sending it through the shipping process rendered it into thousands of shards of glass. I could hear it even before unpacking. I would be hesitant to carry something like this home from a store assembled, let alone sending it through FedEX and the USPS. Save your time and frustration...do NOT bother ordering this light.

P.S. I can't stand that Amazon makes us give a star for items that absolutely don't deserve any.

DO NOT ORDER THIS ITEM. I ordered 4 of these lights for my bar area and all of them arrived shattered in pieces. I could hear the shards of glass through the packaging and had to return it the same day. What a waste of time!!

I should have read the reviews before---clearly this is an ongoing problem that the manufacturer has not solved. STAY AWAY!!

This was very easy to install (my second ceiling fan) if you are replacing an existing fan. It took me more like 30 minutes though (not 5), but I double-check everything I do. The motor is a little louder than I would like but for the price you can't beat it. No wobbling or strange movements whatsoever.

Edited 6/02/10: Motor loudness was cured shortly after I wrote first review...not related to fan and problem soft. Fan is so quiet now so I changed my rating to 5 stars.

First off, let me just say that once installed this fan is very nice looking, quiet, and I had no issue with it not being bright enough (I read this was a problem in reviews outside of Amazon). I don't regret my purchase at all. Unfortunately, the installation was a nightmare. I installed two fans this weekend. Both were Hunter, one was a "Five Minute" version and one was not. The only difference was that the "Five Minute" version has blades that snap on whereas the other had blades that screwed on. Start to finish, this fan took two hours and 21 minutes to install. Why? Because the screws Hunter provides are brass and more decorative than functional for key steps like hanging the bracket on the ceiling where you are supposed to screw three inch screws into a 2X4. Good luck. Both my fans had these same screws. I followed the directions and pre-drilled with the correct size drill bit. I was able to get less than 1/3 of the way screwed in before the entire top of the screw was completely stripped out.

I tried using a drill. It stripped out.

I tried by hand. It stripped out.

I tried using a flat head screwdriver (it is the kind of screw that allows you to use either screwdriver). It stripped out.

It is pretty bad when I'm screwing in a screw with a flat head screwdriver and in a matter of seconds have sliced the top off the screw. I'm a girl and nowhere near that strong. I attached a picture of one of the screws. All four looked like this. Lucky for me, I had some nice quality three inch wood screws in my garage and was able to use those. I also had a lot of issues with places where the threading on the fan was off and putting small screws in was next to impossible because they too were the cheap brass and stripped out within seconds if I put any force behind them.

Aside from the really cheap hardware and the issues that caused, the fan is very nice and is a huge upgrade from the horrible, noisy one we had before.

We just put this fan up on Saturday and it looks Great and also it is Very,Very Quiet! I would like to inform you though that it does take longer than 5 minutes to install. And it goes a lot faster if you have an extra person to assist. I also want to give you a heads up that the blades are not solid black, they are mixed with a very dark cherry or brown & black the other side is more cherry. I have a black dining room table with a dark cherry top that this fan was going over so I wanted black blades but once the fan was up the blades (picked the black/cherry sides) look black so I still ended up loving the look of the fan. As a preface, I have installed many ceiling fans over the years. This fan has some innovative design, but is of average quality overall. For the price, I certainly recommend it.

Some of the features of Hunter fans, do save steps and time. However, this 5 Minute Fan claim is nothing but hype. Even Hunter states that the installation of the mounting plate is not included in the time. I would also subtract such unnecessary steps as taking the fan out of the packaging, reading the instructions, going up and down the ladder, grabbing needed tools, and screwing in the bolts.

Watching Hunter's video, people are literally standing on the floor, hanging an assembled fan, screwing on some wire nuts, and snapping the fan blades on. I wish it were so simple.

Hunter is doing itself a disservice with this ridiculous 5 minute claim, and needs to get back to reality. They produce a decent ceiling fan, with a few time saving features. Leave it at that.

Very happy with the quality and overall look once installed. I bought both the three light and the five light fixture. The three light fixture makes a great entry way light. The five light was for a dining room. I have 14' ceilings so with the full length of chain provided the bottom of the light hangs about 7' above the floor, which puts them about even with the top of the doorway.

I had these professionally installed by an electrician and he was very impressed, especially when I told him what the price was.

I purchased this because it accepts standard (rather than candelabra) base CFL bulbs. It looks very nice and the 5 bulbs illuminate my room well. However, the decorative metal below the glass shades is very flimsy and it took me quite a while to bend it into position such that the glass shades were positioned consistently. At first each one was cocked in a different direction. It also takes a bit of time to spread the 5 arms out so they are evenly distributed.

Looks great considering the price. While I was installing I probably would have given it 3 stars, but now that it is up I think it is deserving of five, so I'll give an average of 4.

In looking for a gift for a sea creature loving friend, I came across this lamp. Never thought it would be better than the picture but it is awesome. Tall and large enough to not be buried in a room, stands out. I would call it more of a night light though, more for ambience than light to read by! The bulb is removable so the seahorse could double as a decorative piece in any location. There is also a sconce in the same design, it is on my wish list!

I recently purchased this seahorse for a friend who had purchased a home near the beach. She loved it. The light is decorative you can't read by it. This seahorse stands quite tall. The bulb is easy to change as the lower portion is open. The brown cord runs from the bottom of the "belly" to your outlet, but it's easy to conceal. It is better than the photo nicely done all metal with glass belly light. I would buy this again.
