The fan itself is plain, but overall it is fine. However, the light fixture in this fan is terrible. It requires a specific type of CFL with a bi-pin base rather than a typical screw in base used by most light bulbs (here is an example ). Perhaps if the bulb itself was better it wouldn't be such a big deal, but it gives off a harsh, bluish white light that washes out the room. Since it has the unique bi-pin connector, you can't just replace the bulb with a better or regular incandescent bulb. The bulb also makes an annoying humming sound that makes me feel like I'm in a depressing office building. To boot, I bought a specific switch to use when installing this fan that has a dimmer switch for the light, but since this is a CFL, it can't be dimmed. I am probably going to completely dismantle the whole thing and ship it back because I am really disappointed in this fan. If I had seen anywhere in the fan description some information on this light fixture with this fan, there is no way I would have bought it in the first place.

5 Minute Fan is a huge misnomer It takes a while to install a ceiling fan properly, even if (as in my case) everything has been pre-wired and prepped. It takes 5 minutes just to get the package open and sort out all the hardware. Wiring and mounting the fan is probably another 20-30 min depending on individual circumstances. But I digress, the fan itself is nice, I have two older Hunter ceiling fans that are nearly identical. The older fans are still whisper quiet, as are the new ones, so I have confidence in the quality of Hunter's products.

The one "gotcha" on this item that the lighting fixture only supports fluorescent light bulbs. Had this been mentioned ANYWHERE on Amazon's product description I would have searched for a similar fan that uses traditional incandescent light bulbs. Thankfully I don't often use the lights on the fan units, so it isn't a major upset, but it should definitely be called out somewhere.

There's no way this fan was a simple thing to put on and no way its close to five minutes(though I didn't expect it to really be 5 minutes of course). The instructions were confusing and there was this extra piece which we couldn't figure out if we needed it or not. Also, once its on if you have to make any adjustments it is super hard. Things were locked in place and almost impossible to remove and then the top of the base has holes so when we unscrewed one of the screws of the top canopy thing, it fell inside the middle base through the hole and is still there as it was impossible to take out unless we took the whole thing off. In the end I'm sure its not more difficult to put than another fan but the point is don't advertise this as a simpler to install fan and then it turns out to be a headache. Basically I'm giving it low scores because of the false advertisement otherwise it looks good and functions well.

This fan is really a NICE classy looking fan. It has a nice wood/and pewter combo. It works wonderful, it's quiet, it was fairly easy for my husband to install.

I ordered this light to supplement my kitchen undercabinet lighting. Specifically, it's right above the counter where I have my laptop much of the time. The light is very bright and exceeds my expectations there. The swiveling back-and-forth light head is nice as it is nice to be able to direct the light back away from my laptop to avoid the glare on the screen. If I'm doing something without the computer, I tilt it forward. It doesn't swivel very far, only about 20-30 degrees, but it's enough to direct the light where you need it.

Installation was very easy (well, a contractor installed it, but I was there when he did and it was really simple). I needed a hardwire light, but this light can apparently be either hardwired OR plugged in. I don't think the product details were very clear on this feature. You can also link it to another similar light fixture to cut down on the amount of wiring, but I haven't needed this feature.

The color is good because it is less conspicuous as an undercabinet light.

Yes, I would recommend this light. It's quite fascinating to look at the LEDs when they're not lit because they're so small. It's hard to believe that they produce so much light for such low wattage. By my calculation, I could install 12 of these gems and still use less electricity than the four flourescent fixtures that I used to have under my cabinets. The light is more directional than the fluourescent, but that's fine for my purposes.

Galaxy Lighting 70314 is a standard track lighting set with modern styling. The bulb covers look fancy and nicer than I expected from the picture. I've had no issues with the contacts -the lights work immediately after twisting the track lights into place. Wiring is also simple, though the trim to cover it is unfortunately plastic.

Overall, there is no standout feature to make this light set better than others, but I recommend it if you like the style or it is on sale.

gave 5 stars because its a nice light fixture...really!

i have been missing though two bronze screws to mount it (it mounts with 2 screws from the bottom and 2 from the top), maybe that was the design, so i put the bronze set on the bottom since thats where you gonna see it, but replaced top ones with gold screws provided (i think those were electrical).

My only other comment is that trying to put a light bulb in those cans is a little pain in a butt due to the length of those and size BUT, how often do you do that? and ultimately it gives you this very nice look...

i have mounted mine upside down (from the picture), due to the distance and such..and it looks amazing~!

i would recommend.

These sconces had the look we were seeking, so no complaints there. They are well made, as you'd expect for the price. They came complete with everything you need to hang and wire them except for a way to support the fixture while terminating the wires, which had to be improvised. One shortcoming I found is that the socket rotates within the fixture until you screw on the locking ring that secures the glass globe. So this locking ring must be tightened securely (a little wrench is provided to do this) in order to screw in a light bulb. Also, there's no parts list, so I'm not sure how you would get another if you broke a globe.

After an obsessive internet search for elegant contemporary dark-sky outdoor lights we settled for these black aluminum cylinders to replace inexpensive carriage lights that glared into your eyes. Oh my, we are delighted! They are well-made, flat black inside and out, easy to install, and classic modernist design. Simple and perfect, for a fraction of the cost of so many fancier products out there. They throw a lovely triangle of light up into the eaves, and another matching triangle down against the house and walk, it's a cool look at night. Because they are dark-sky, you don't see the bulbs, which is gentler on the eyes. The package does not include lamps, so we got PAR 30 50 watt bulbs instead of the recommended 75 watts--which provide plenty of bright light, and use less energy. We also bought the glass covers for the tops of the lights to keep birds from nesting in them. This is a great lighting solution for our home.

I ordered two fixtures for a patio. They are exactly what I was looking for design-wise although larger than what I was expecting. The finish on one of the fixtures looks like it has been scraped off but my painter says he can touch it up. This will be less trouble than uninstalling and replacing. They are inexpensive for a great simple modern look. Hence 3 stars.

This is a great porch light upgrade from my old and antiquated glass light. It was relatively easy to install, and judging by my old light, way easier to install than the old-style lights. There are multiple grooves for different mounting possibilities/angles. The cables were extra long and easy to tie to the existing house wires. I really like that it sits so snugly against the wall, but would also say that it was the hardest part during installation--trying to find the right spot for the hole and screw blindly. I don't think there are much better lights without having to go custom, and it's a light that has timeless style because it is the representation of contemporary. I can't think of any major cons. I used a GFC at a lower wattage than the recommended bulb that it wants, to save energy. It works great.

Held my breath from the moment I dropped 95 bucks on this until I received it and BOY AM I HAPPY!! This is a beautiful contemporary, solidly-built light that was simple to install. Works great if you have a tall exterior wall you want to bathe with light. I replaced a tired, dated typical coach fixture with this and (combined with a dimmer switch) it lets us "gently" light up our house without annoying our neighbors with a visible light source. Not exactly a "Dark Sky" fixture (what with the one lamp pointing up), but with two Feit PAR30/L/LEDG5 LED Dimmable PAR30 Reflector GEN5 bulbs (available on Amazon) and a Lutron TGCL-153-PH-WH CFL/LED Single-Pole/3-Way Toggle Dimmer (also available on Amazon) this light adds beauty and function to our home. If used outside don't forget to get the Progress Lighting P8799-31 Top Cover Lens.

This is a beautiful light with shiny chrome and brushed nickel accents and it looked wonderful installed. However, even though it is LED it was not bright enough for our (windowless) bathroom. We wouldn't have been able to read small print on medicine labels, etc. So we had to chose a different lamp. The amazon seller was awesome to deal with.
