I am very disappointed with the lamp. It looks great on the picture but it's not as classy. In fact the materials are second rate and once assembled it looks "cheaper" than in the picture and description. For example, nowhere in the description does it say it has pained plastic parts but the part that right above the 3 discs an below the shade is painted plastic and it shows; looks quite tacky. Also the underside of the 3 chrome discs are not properly finished and have these black spots can be seen when standing next to it.

Also beware the bulbs show above the shade.

I wish I could return it -I don't have the original packaging any longer...

My husband and I live in a low level Manhattan apartment with very little natural light. We have no overhead lighting so we needed floor lamps that would brightly light our rooms, yet still look attractive enough so as not to detract from how we decorated our rooms. We chose the Adesso Metropolis floor lamp because it uses two bright 150 watt bulbs and we like the sleek design. The lamp is very attractive with a metallic looking stem and a glass half globe. We put one of them in two corners of each room and the lamps light the room very well. We also like that the lamp has two settings and we often use the lower setting in the evening when we are relaxing and do not want such bright light.

The lamp were packaged well and no parts were damaged in any of the lamps that we ordered. The assembly of the lamp is very easy and took my husband only about 7 minutes. We have had no problems with the quality of the lamps and we have six of them, which we have used for the past year. We highly recommend the Adesso Metropolis floor lamp!

Overall just what I was looking for. Shipped in a few days and arrived in good shape.

I needed additional lighting in my office and this floor torchiere lamp fits well in the space

I needed a new lamp for the office and wanted something with a bit of style for little bucks...was nervous with the couple of extremely negative reviews, but went ahead as I like the look. Glad I did it was a cinch to put together, has a nice deco look to it and the glass shade allows light to go down as well as up, which is what I was hoping. The switch has low/hi settings so I'm guessing this wouldn't work with non-dimmable CFLs unless you just used the high setting.

As for the negative reviews sounds like the first two reviewers just got duds that were somehow damaged, which is a shame. No problems here. And 'painted plastic parts'? WTF? I think this reviewer had the wrong product there is nothing plastic on this lamp that I can find. It's all metal/chrome and glass. (Ok I'm editing this because it just occurred to me that they might have been referring to the black lamp, and since I haven't seen that one I can't comment. The chrome one has no painted parts)

Oh yes, the Styrofoam packaging did get all over the place while opening. What an incredible, horrible, terrible hassle! Now I will have to vacuum! Or should I just return it? LOL

Best $90 I ever spent (well, my boss ever spent) on a lamp.

The lamp appears to be well crafted, and as an example of talavera, it is as raucous and colorful as they come. My only complaint may be generic to oil lamps, rather than specific to this product, but I wish the flame did not smudge so much. The lamp cannot be used indoors for the smoke it creates, even at the lowest setting. I wish for a better wick technology.

I bought these to go one my driveway plinths. They are very nice looking, give excellent amount of light.

I wish they were bigger, when I measured them prior to ordering them I thought that they would be big enough. If they came in a larger size I probably would have returned them and got the bigger ones.

If you would be using these for lamp post they would be perfect.

Although this fixture looks quite gorgeous online, you just wouldn't believe how ugly it is in real life. It's one of 3 things I've EVER returned to amazon but this thing, oh it's just so cheaply made, looks like it came from the dollar store and the color. Golly! It's the color of Georgia clay when it's wet, smeared with some chaulk-like substance. Since it's made in China, who knows what that "substance" actually is! Ewwww! Save yourself the hasslelook for an antique online if you're into reproduction fixtures. This one is just miserable!

It isn't exactly what I expected by looking at the picture, but for the price, it is pretty. It was a little bit of a challenge installing as the screws were too long and I couldn't find shorter ones to fit at the hardward store (not the normal thread size) so I had to be creative but otherwise, a nice fixture.

I have installed 3 of these, and they look Wonderful in an old home, on a plaster ceiling. I have used them in the entry hall, the main stair way and the guest bedroom. They don't look like much in the box. But once installed with the light turned on...and they achieved the look I wanted...old house...old style...

I wish they were made in the USA instead of imported. Had they been made in the USA...they would have rated a 5 star.

I've installed my fair share of light fixtures, and this one was probably the most problematic to install for several reasons:

1) The base of it is barely large enough to cover a standard 4x4" junction box. The hole in my sheetrock was slightly larger than that, and off-center. So I had to gerry rig two mounting brackets together to give me the flexibility to shift the lamp base down far enough to cover the hole.

2) There is foil-backed fiberglass insulation behind the lamp to prevent the heat of the halogen lamp from melting the insulation on the wires. However, the fiberglass kept shifting when I tried to install it, obscuring the hole through which the threaded nipple must be inserted. It takes two hands to hold the lamp, and a third hand to push the fiberglass out of the way.

Once installed, however, the lamp is very attractive, and the light is extremely bright. In fact, I plan to install a dimmer to tone it down a little. Another reviewer mentioned fitting the fixture with a higher wattage halogen, because he thought the included bulb was too dim. Installing a higher wattage bulb is not recommended and could result in the lamp overheating. I can't imagine needing more light than this lamp puts out.

The lamp also came with a spare bulb. I didn't check to see if it was the same wattage as the installed bulb. There also are two different diffusers. One is clear glass, and the other is frosted. I used the frosted diffuser, although I didn't see any appreciable difference in lighting. The globe itself is frosted,which serves to diffuse light directed downward. Light directed upward, however, is not diffused by the globe, which is open on top.

We had these model in one area and they looked good. We needed more as our remodel moved into adjacent areas. Had trouble finding this model through conventional lighting sources. Amazon had several. They came in perfect condition which was better than the condition offered. Very easy to install and have a modern look. They cast a good light, too.

This is a well put together lamp. Has a bag full of various screws, mollies, etc. everything you'd need. Even a little screwdriver! Looks good, works fine. Wish the arm was adjustable vertically that is, height-wise because I had to cover an electrical box with it and it leaves it a little high. Otherwise, an excellent choice. Bulb is bright enough, and has a yellowish cast to it not the bright white light you get from some Xenon or other bulbs.

I have had 2 of these same Lite Source halogen lamps for 16 years. One of them I have been using every day of the year, sometimes 8 hours a day. It provides excellent bright light for reading while in bed. It is easy to install, the brightness is adjustable, and the bulb lasts years even with daily use.

After daily use for 16 years, one of the lamps went dead, and I was delighted to find out that the manufacturer is still making the exact same lamp, so I ordered a new replacement. I saw similar looking lamps on Lamps Plus website selling for $400 $600.

I am a surefire owner and fan. About the best light available. Not taking away from Surefire but Maglite has finally gotten into the tactical market. Great light, bright, well built, nice ergo's. I purchased another the same day after initial inspection.

Don't be tempted by the "Made in China" stuff. Buy a product made in USA and get a better product. If you want disposable, go for the others.

I have been waiting for Mag Intruments to enter the modern flashlight world for a long time. I currently own both models, 320 and 310 lumen models. These are the quality product I expect from Mag. I am totally sastified with these lights.

There are a ton of "tactical light" choices out there. Many of them look very well built, the difference is that Mag-Tac not only looks well built but when you look on the inside you can see it is really built to last. Momentary on, constant on and strobe are all easy to access via the nicely done electronic switch. Excellent output with a lot of distance and nice spill for surrounding areas. I love the various lights with lots of brightness levels and all of that but for a straight forward light that has to work when needed without question, it will be the Mag-Tac I reach for.

I bought a couple of this to take it to a camping trip. I have a regular 3-cell Maglite but i wanted to have a "back up" flashlight. It turned out to be my primary flashlight. 320 lumens are much more than enough to illuminate the dark woods. . It is small enough (about the size of an iPhone 4) and very light. The holding clip definitely helps if you are wearing pants/shorts with no pockets.

It includes a couple of Lithium batteries and they seem to last for a while. There is a similar model that does not have the Scalloped Head and the difference is this: Scalloped head allows you to place the flashlight on a table or surface and provide some light, like a candle. The other model (without the Scalloped Head) will "choke the light if placed on a flat surface.

I have also found some adaptors that would allow you to place this flashlight on a rifle or shotgun.

I am definitely very happy with this flashlight.

Lamp is attactive. Be aware that the lampshade is not white or ivory. It's much darker. I would have preferred a lighter shade, but it's still attractive.
