My options for solar lights on a dock post were limited and this Gamasonic model were one of the few that fit the dimensions I had to work with. The light it gives off is enough. It's not enough to read by, but for a soft, decorative glow it's fine.

As for the rust, I just noticed it yesterday. I used stainless steel screws but the screws are not the part that is showing rust, rather there are specs of rust on the base that have appeared after only less than a month of installation. It's not even rainy season so I'm not sure what to think. i have two and one is fine but the other is showing signs of rust. I'm disappointed.

This is perfect answer to lamp post that has lost power. The base was concrete and its 50 feet to the house. Time to go green. This lamp throws plenty of light. Easy to place on pole. Construction not high quality but still looks good and price is right. I'm very happy with the lamp.

I recommend the Gamasonic GS-16L Light My Shed 2. The price per KWH, where I live in the Caribbean, averages 39 cents US. And there is an island law preventing a purely solar-powered home. I've been experimenting with low-level solar, of which this is an example. With every success, I switch off the circuit breaker, thereby sustaining a minimum monthly electric bill. I use the product in the bathroom, for my nightly visits. I've ordered two more for hallway-kitchen areas, for midnight snacks. The candlelight is sufficient to read by, also. I recommend the manufacturer extend the connecting cord from ten to thirty feet. The overall concept I'm working under is "outside" solar stuff should be adapted for indoor use. The full-blown, solar panel approach is just too costly. I may be a bit eccentric (cough), but it's American ingenuity that allows a "pursuit of happiness," even in a foreign country. So...buy the product and come visit when your winter get toooooo cold.

I mounted the light on the ceiling of a 16'x20' garden shed. Even though the short wire has it closer to one end the light it puts out is quite adequate to find tools or work anywhere in the shed. You get a really strange assortment of long thin bolts, short screws and a couple of knobs. I have no idea what they're meant for. I used my own wood screws and easily mounted everything. I love not having to carry a flashlight or run the 100' 12 gauge extension cord just for light. Plus I don't really need to run electic from the house to the shed, just use cordless hand tools and the sun for my light now.

I installed Light my Shed, which has two 8 watt florescent bulbs, in a 12'x24' horse run-in shed 2-3 years ago. It has worked well, and I haven't had to replace either of the bulbs or had any problem with the battery. As other reviews stated, it is adequate to see what you are doing but not for any detail work.

I recently added a 10'x24' double stall building and decided to try the Lite my Shed 2 which uses 24 LEDs. I was pleased. In comparing the two, they appear to give off they same amount of light. One of my unscientific test was to go to the far wall (24 ft away) hold my hand 12 inches from the wall and see how strong the shadow was. It does seems the LEDs produce a whiter light. I have another building and am going to go with the LED light again.

I only rated it 4 stars because I would have liked more light; it's not the product, but the technology. I rated Light my Shed 4 stars also.

Just installed this today outside our porch, and it looks great. Was packed well and arrived in perfect condition. Arrives assembled except for the glass panels, but to install it, you first unscrew the two main pieces, install the four glass panels into the piece that hangs downward, then hook up the electrical supply to other piece that contacts the wall, and finally reconnect the two main parts you previously separated. This last step is the one where it's great to have a helper to hold the down-hanging piece while you connect it to the wall-installed piece, because they're connected using three screws which have decorative nuts (insert joke here). You need one hand to hold the screw, another to hold the nut, and a third hand to support the down-hanging piece. The screws and decorative nuts are small and easy to drop while you're hooking the parts together, and that's the only complaint I have about this product: the three screw heads and nuts should be more hefty for easier handling. I didn't have a helper so I held the parts together, then passed a twist-tie through each of the three holes, twisting them so the down-hanging piece was supported. Then it was easy to install the three screws, removing each twist-tie as I did so.

I ordered two of the fixtures. Both arrived well packed, and with no breakage. Easy to install, however, the way it is designed and its size, it was a two man job, with one person holding up the unit while I connected the wiring. The units are well made, with a classic design that really looks nice. The amber stained glass gives a warm glow to the front of the house, yet provides plenty of light for security.

First, if you buy the light, invest 30 seconds to look at the instructions regarding how to assemble.

I assembled the first by sliding the glass panes up from the bottom a pain in the butt that took 15 minutes.

The instructions consulted, as always, as a last-resort showed that the top should be removed and the glass panes slid down from top. MUCH EASIER.

The lights arrived quickly. Both were pretty well packed (thought both packaged had some damage). Lights were intact. Result looks nice.

Warning: the "honey" glass is darker (less transparent) than I would have guessed. You may be disappointed by how little light comes through the glass. "Mood lighting, not task lighting!"

I agree with the other reviewers here that this is a handsome and reasonably well made fixture. The sides are translucent craft glass with some random color variation. The bottom is open so most of the useful illumination shines down with just some warm accent light glowing through the glass.

It's the material that's suspect. All the exposed metal is ferrous (tack welded sheet steel with the top bracket probably cast iron) and does not appear to even be brass plated. The "Burnished Bronze" finish looks to be painted or powder coated. I would not trust the fixture to survive unblemished for long if exposed to moisture or salty sea air. It should be fine under a protected inland porch. For the price it seems inexcusable that it isn't solid brass.

I was very happy with the quality of the product. The color, size and material is as I expected, if not higher quality. Light output is very bright. We tested both settings of the light output, (high for 8 hours and low for 10 hours). After just a few hours of solar charging on the first day, the light output lasted the whole 8 hours for the high setting and the whole 10 hours for the low setting as promised. The weathered bronze finish matched perfectly with my door handle and mailbox that I already owned in the same color.

I was hesitant to purchase these lights due to the price and that they would be placed on brick columns facing north and would not receive much sunlight. I recently bought this light and it is truly a waste of money. Unless the only thing you want it to do is tell you where the end of the building is. It won't illuminate a doorway well enough to see where you are standing.

I knew what I was looking for but I didn't want to pay over 200 bucks for a basic fan. I wanted something clean, modern and inexpensive. It looks just like the picture. It is a great quality product for a reasonable price. Note: The blades for the fan had one white side and one "weathered side." The white side is great. The "weathered" side looks like watered down paint it's not a great "weathered" look if that's what you are looking for. I wasn't really concerned because I am using the white side but I just thought I'd note it for others.

It's a beautiful fan and light it was a bit heavier than I expected but was still a room charmer and added class to my bedroom. Absolutely love it keeps the air circulated and helps even out the room temperature, saving on the gas bill and electric bill got to love that.But it does have to be put on a electrical box from the ceiling that can support 50lbs.so something to thank about if you live in a house like mine that was built cheap LOL but no problem putting in a box that could support the weight. Well worth it!!

The light was packaged well and was easy to install. I'm disappointed that the motion detector doesn't work. The light stays on all of the time in every setting. I think it has something to do with the LED light bulbs. I purchased this light for the motion detector feature. I wanted it to come on when someone approached my front door but it will only work on or off from the switch. I decided to just live with it, it has a good look and doesn't use much power.

Love this lamp. My 2nd one. Bought the first one for my front door at Sam's club 2 years ago, and had to get a matching one for the garage light. It has motion detector sensors, as well as dusk-dawn sensor. The bronze is truly weatherproofed; there has been no loss of color, no rust, etc. Would have given 5 start, except that the included LED lights are horrible. Had to subsitute clear incandescent bulbs, which give a wonderful bright light. Relatively easy to install, did it myself.

I've had this Lantern for about six months now, at it worked great. The motion sensor didn't have any false motion activations and the light the led's put out was fair at best. After about two months of usage I noticed that one of the led bulbs in the lantern was no longer working. Couple of months later the second led burned out leaving only one bulb which alone gives very little illumination. The replacement bulbs are way too expensive to be cost effective. Would not buy again.

Our local government charges quite a bit for businesses to recycle fluorescent tubes and places heavy fines if you dispose of them improperly. The Recyclepak costs about the same as does the government recycle program without having to fill out lots of paperwork, obtain an appointment, and drive to the recycling center at the specified time. You just add tubes to the box until it is filled to capacity, seal the box, fill out a few lines on the forms, and call FedEx for prepaid pick-up. It's really that easy to do the right thing without jumping through a bunch of government hoops!

I really like the look of the light and it fit my tight demensions very well. The only thing keeping it from a five star rating was a hardware issue (at least in my opinion). This is a nice small light that is perfect for hallways or powder rooms. We put ours in a hallway and its dimensions were perfect. I wanted a light that can handle standard bulbs not specialty ones and this fit the bill. It looks very nice (we got the Satin Nickel finish) and its functional. We have two CFL bulbs in it and it is bright enough. I would recommend this and not hesitate to buy it again

I wanted to update and brighten up my bathroom by replacing an old 75-watt single bulb fixture. I ordered this fixture because it was described as taking two 75-watt regular bulbs and it looked like a very pretty fixture. But, when it arrived, one of the bulb sockets warned of a 40-watt maximum or "risk of fire hazard".....oops! The second socket had no label at all and it didn't match the appearance (color or markings) of the labeled socket, so I'm not really sure what its maximum wattage would be. Not a good sign. I returned the fixture for a refund, went to Home Depot and found an attractive replacement that really does take two 75-watt bulbs. I'm very happy with my newly brightened bathroom, and also happy with Amazon's great customer service and fast refund.

I have been looking for a replacement of our vaulted ceiling incandescent can lights. I like the warm light of incandescent lights and I like their instant FULL on. I hate that they burn out quickly. Our vaulted ceiling has 8 can lights with 100 watt bulbs in them. I have to replace 3-5/year. The high ceilings make this a task a true pain.

The other issue is the 800 watts that the incandescent bulbs consume when they are on! Whew.

So we first went with the CFLs. Those solve the burnout problem and help with the watt consumption, BUT they are dimmer and yield a sickly looking light even the ones billed as warm, I don't like. I also really don't care for how slow the CLFs are in reaching their full brightness: even the instant on versions don't actually reach their full potential for a minute or two.

I replaced all with these CREE LR6. They are expensive BUMMER. However these LEDs are the best thing going. They produce light that is indistinguishable to the incandescent. They consume just over 11 watts (according to my Kill-A-Watt)and have an output very close the the 100 watt bulbs: I would estimate 90 watt equivalent, although CREE advertises as a 75 watt equivalent. They also turn on FULLY instantaneously, or nearly so. Side-by-side with an incandescent the CREE LEDs are just slightly slower, but it is unnoticeable in my opinion.

I have had them for about 8 months now, so I cannot speak to the 50,000 hrs in longevity. I am happy thus far.

UPDATE: We are now at 2 years with these lights, and I'd estimate close to 2,000 hours of use. None have burned out which is expected given their estimated hours, and more importantly we have not noticed any color shift with them. We have some other "regular" bulb type LEDs that started out warm, but have slowly seen a slightly blue shift in the color.

If you are looking for an LED downlight that produces a beautiful incandescent like light, this unit should delight you. We put three of them in a bathroom remodel and were so pleased that we put another 10 in a kitchen remodel. The light turns on instantly at full brightness, it is a true warm incandescent color (very well matched between units), and it uses only 12 watts of power while putting out more light than our former 50ER30 downlights. You may mutter a bit about the initial cost, but I doubt you will regret choosing these superior quality lights.

It's true what they say about the automatic power-trip. I accidentally brushed against my heater a little too harshly, and it powered off. This is a great feature, since all of God's creatures like my backyard! I'd also add that, naturally, it adds light. So if you're like me and enjoy the evening air, expect to get a warm glow that will make your outdoor lighting unneeded. The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star rating, is because potential buyers need to be aware of the square-footage actually heated by this lamp. You need to be sitting relatively close to it (no more than 3 feet) to enjoy the full benefits of its warmth. What I haven't determined yet, is whether or not the heating distance is more impacted by the power of the heater, or the natural elements of just being outside in an open area. I imagine it's a combination of both. So to put it simply: If you use this heater in a somewhat enclosed patio space (like a four-seasons room made mostly of glass windows), you'll feel more heat. If you use it outdoors with no surrounding structural element to withold heat, the heating capacity is a bit lessened. My usage is the latter. It's still the best addition to my patio... well, second to the chiminea I added for a bit more heat and ambiance!

We have a second story patio overlooking the Sierra Nevada Mountains where we spend a great deal of time. Unfortunately, we have to bundle up and put our Chihuahuas in our coats. With this heater between us, our Chihuahuas are free and we only have to wear a light jacket if anything at all. It was easy to assemble, easy to operate, and it blends perfectly with our Tommy Bahama wicker furniture. I would highly recommend it.

It's nice for sitting on the back porch in the evening, when it's 60 degrees out, and the heater is sitting on the table you're at. It does not generate a ton of heat. Heat comes from a circular, electric heating element that's in the shade portion of the "lamp." So it's a little space heater for outdoors. It takes the chill off of a cool evening, but won't heat an area like a propane-based heater will do don't expect to be sitting outside in your underwear on a cool fall night with this lamp.

On another note, the heater does look very niceit's not a cheap-looking piece of equipment.

This is the second one of these that I bought this summer. I put the first one together and it was kind of difficult to do alone. My husband did the second one without checking it out first. Once it was put together and sitting on the table, I noticed the same thing previous reviewers have said: the paint job was not good. It appeared to be cracked and with little or not effort, it would peel and reveal a totally white lamp. I love the lamp as a heater. It does just exactly want I want, but the finish is very disappointing. I'm still within my 30 days and could return it to Amazon, but then I'd have to take it apart and try to get it put back in the box. I wish they'd just send me a good one so I could swap the pieces. It's a dilemma. I tried to email Endless Summer, but once I filled out the form, I kept getting an error message that my message couldn't be sent. Perhaps the company has gone belly up due to the poor quality of the finish! I've now carefully checked out the first one I bought, and I can see there are cracks in the paint as well. It won't be long before it will begin to flake. Bummer!

If you buy one, don't put it together until you've made sure that the finish is good!
