Review of Mr. Light String of 200 Solar LED Lights

well, wanted to wait a few months to make sure my initial satisfaction did not diminish over time (because from what i can tell from reviews of other solar string light sets i viewed before purchasing these, it is over time that these types of sets either prove themselves or not. well, a whole summer of use now behind us, i remain very happy with this light set, and plan to purchase a few more sets in the near future.

#1 reason i bought these instead of others, was that they are warm white... i have purchased other white LED light sets in the past (not solar), and the regular white LED color has all the charm of DMV florescent lighting... horrible! so until i came across these, thought our only choice was going to be to go with a color like amber or something. the color of this set is very pleasing, and is indeed warm.

the charging is fast, and last a pretty long time. figuring they are like all rechargeable batteries, i make sure to leave the lights on all night to run down the charge (and it does take just about all night to do so, so that tells you how well that aspect of this set works). the first day i got them, they arrived in the afternoon, so it only received about three or four hours of charging before nightfall, and yet we were still able to enjoy hours of light from them in the gazebo where we strung them up.

just two complaints prevent me from rating these a five star:

1. the description says this set uses AA NiMh batteries, but it does not (or if it does, the case is not easily opened to get at them... so if you are hoping to be able to always have light by having other rechargeable AA batteries on hand (as i was), that is not actually the case. luckily it has not been a problem, we have never run out of light, even when we have used them in successive evenings during cloudy stretches they have lasted to second and even third evenings pretty well.

2.switching modes is a difficult dimple style button that advances through the six modes in succession via each push of the button. this would not be such a big deal if the default mode when you turn the set on was not a running flashing one, and the just plain on mode is the last of the sixth, so every time you turn the set on, you have to locate (tough when it is dark) and press that inadequate button six times to get to just plain always on lights.

but overall, these look great, charge quickly, and seem to last well, and i definitely recommend them.

I bought these lights to provide some solar lighting in the backyard and have been extremely satisfied with them so far after almost three months. First of all, the solar unit is solid and very well made and the instructions in setting it up were clear and simple. Prior to installation, I had charged up the unit in the sun for about three and the lights stayed on only for a few hours, but the next day with a full day's charge they lasted from dusk until dawn. They also came on once during a very dark thunderstorm and then turned back off again after it passed. We also had a power failure one night and they stayed lit so one of my neighbors asked how we were able to have the lights when the power was out all over the neighborhood. I liked these lights so much that I just bought another set for the front of the house for the Christmas season and will put them in the back yard for the rest of the year a little farther back than the other set. This is my first review on Amazon but I wanted to share about this great product and service, and how they offer a great way to have a little nightscaping. There probably are cheaper lights out there, but I feel that these are worth what I paid for them and more.

I purchased these exact same lights before but in a different color AND directly from the company. I haven't had any problems with the lights I purchased directly from the company and have had them for years. It makes a big difference. If you buy them directly from the company you pay more BUT they work. The battery that came with the lights didn't work at all after having more than 10 hours to charge in the hot Texas sun.

I bought 4 sets all together. Out of 4 sets one worked. They are all going back. I trusted the brand name that's why I purchased them But based on my experience it matters where who you buy them from. The price of these lights was too good to be true.

This is an excellent product. To my surprise its even managing to light up faithfully each night despite a series of rainy overcast days. Really beautiful gentle light. Nice blinking options if you want them.

I am looking forward to buying more and lighting my whole patio area with them.

You will not be disappointed.

I only wish I had been able to get white at the same price as these blue ones. I leave them up all year in the back yard and they provide some illumination, even in blue. They stay on almost all night when set on the "no blinking" setting. If they are on any of the other "blinking" settings, they remain on until the sun rises. The solar collectors are built sturdy and have withstood dogs in the yard knocking them down regularly. I have had no problem with them at all.

I did a complete remodel on a bathroom and looked for weeks for the perfect lighting. I like this style because it was different and made it very easy to change out the bulb. Great design.

Not much to write. This is a nice light fixture. I just wish that the glass was taller. When using pretty much any CFL, it sticks out from the top. (Those low profile CFLs fit better, but they aren't as bright)

Other than that, I am happy.

I have to be honest, I am VERY skeptical about buying furniture/home goods online because there is no viewing until its delivered. I was extremely pleasantly surprised with this lamp. The first thing you think of when you see it, it looks alot like track lights that someone would put on the ceiling.

It is heavy (a good, solid weight), very smooth to the touch, and the rotating heads are absolutely beautiful. I love simplicity. This lamp is definitely for the minimalist lover. There's nothing flashy or annoying to the eye about it.

I am so thrilled with this purchase. The installation is doable by a child its SO SIMPLE. It took almost 5 minutes to put together. The bulbs are STANDARD; which is wonderful, no special or expensive bulbs to be buying. I am buying this again. You will not regret this beautiful lamp. Definitely A++ purchase.

The lamp is great, the only thing is I wish I had thought of this before ordering it: with spots like these, light is direct not defused, so think ahead of how you want to position them because the light is strong and hurts your eyes...also the price has gone down since I bought it :-(

I own this Ott lamp, and would just like to pass on my experience with it. I use mainly for sewing, and winter darkness. I love this lamp, but think folks should be aware that the flexible plastic breaks. My lamp has not been abused, no kids in home, but has cracked in 2 places so far. Today I contacted the company about getting this repaired. I don't know how safe it is in this condition. Other than this, it is a great lamp.

Beautiful light that is not too hot. I use it at my loom and other lights get too ht. This lamp took the place of another OTT that stopped working after about ten years.

I have two of these lamps and they are well worth the money! Fantastic illumination from a 7 watt bulb. Mine are on each side of my desk and illuminate my desktop wher my keyboard and tacking pad sit. The goose neck feature allow for greater ability to adjust the light stream to precisely where it's needed. Thanks Philips and Amazon for two geat lamps!

This is the best reading light I have owned. It is quality all the way and is able to focus on the book for in bed reading. It was shipped promptly and very protectively.
