I really like the appearance of this lamp, and it has a nice weight to it. I do agree with the previous review, it is too short for most purposes.

I purchased it to use on the top of a cabinet that is about 30" high, but the lamp is too small for that piece. I have high ceilings, and the proportions just aren't esthetically pleasing, so I am using it as a bedside lamp. It's even a bit short for that purpose, as it really belongs on a tall piece. I may stack a couple of large books under it to give the added height.

Generally well constructed, but I need a taller lamp. This is more of a bedside lamp as it is a rather low profile. The bronze accents are nice and just what I needed. However, the wiring pole through the glass is silver which makes little esthetic sense. Arrived well packed and easy to assemble. But the silver interior given the bronze accents is why I have it rated it as only ok.

Normande JS3-729 27W PL Floor Lamp, each, Antique Brass Finish Review

The antique brass is pretty, but the light itself is a very strange washed out color (not at all like the nice clear light color you get in other 'reveal' or full spectrum type bulbs. We kept it, though, because it looked nice in our room. It was functioning just fine for a couple of months, and my husband said the light was good to read by. The problem: after having this product just a couple of months, the stand seems to have broken. It no longer stays screwed securely to the base. Instead it leans over and no amount of taping or puttying by my husband can get it to stand straight again. I would not recommend this product at all.

I was pleased with the heavy weight of the lamp. Its base is very heavy. The overall finish was very good. The on/off switch is a rotary knob by the light socket. It is a couple inches long and was bent slightly on arrival, although not enough to be concerned about. I wanted to order a couple of replacement bulbs with the lamp. I called the Amazon help phone number 1-866-876-8073 which was listed on the product page. (It's no longer listed there.) The Amazon representative went to extraordinary lengths to find out what type of bulb the lamp used. The next day he called back with the information. Unfortunately the information was incorrect. When I received the lamp I found it takes a 27w screw in daylight bulb. It's listed as a TEL-27 27w 6400k 120v 60hz 310ma nondimmable bulb. The base is a standard screw in base like the old fashioned incandescent bulbs. The glass part of the bulb has several u-shaped loops of white florescent glass. The total length of the bulb is about 6.5-6.75 inches. It has a nice bright daylight light. It was brighter than I expected it to be. It is similar to the bulb listed here: (...) Amazon lists it as a 3U 27w QVC Tensor Lamp Replacement Bulb by Full Spectrum Solutions.

The bulb listed above is expensive, but it appears a normal compact florescent screw in base bulb would work.

The lamp itself is adjustable in height. The shade slides over another circular sleeve that covers the bulb base. The shade can rotate to any angle needed.

Very good lamp for your money. Comes wih a fluorescent bulb that saves electricity. You can tilt the shade how you want it using the band right next to the shade (the band doesn't heat up at all, so tilting it isn't painful, unlike some cheapo lamps) and adjust the height of the stand. When all the way up it's 51". I use it as a floor lamp next to the computer, often the only light in a dark room at night. It would also be an excellent reading lamp. Also, I like the weight (medium) and look (dull gold color with a nice antique finish, and has the style of an old-fashioned office lamp). It's a quality piece for a budget cost. We've been using it for 2 weeks without a problem and assembly was easy as pie. The only catch is that it's more of an office or study look than a living room look, but it would even work in a modern living room.

Great reading lamp, this. It assembles in a flash. Its heavy base ensures it's unlikely ever to get knocked over. Comes with a 27-watt full-spectrum bulb with an estimated 10,000-hour life. A quick turn of the screw brings the lamp down to the much lower than normal height that a reader in a low-slung lounge chair like my Le Corbusier knockoff needs; it swivels on its base and its metal shade easily angles to focus the light just where you want it. Would be a good choice for anyone who reads, studies or works in a bed or chaise. If only it had been available in black or gray metal, either of which would suit my décor far better than brass, this would have been a five-star review.

Update 12/5/2011: Re the replacement bulb problem:

The bulb that came with this lamp died in the middle of reading a whodunit a couple of nights ago. After the many comments in these reviews about the replacement bulb being offered on this page not fitting the lamp and the near impossibility of finding a replacement bulb that does fit, I was more than somewhat amazed to discover that the 13 watt GE Energy Smart spiral CFL bulbs I'd picked up at the supermarket recently to use in incandescent sockets elsewhere in the house fit this lamp perfectly and suit me just fine for reading. Then today I found a 26 watt CFL soft light mini spiral bulb from SATCO at my hardware store with a projected life of 12000 hours for under $9 that also fits this lamp and works well for reading. Several similar looking bulbs to these two are offered on Amazon, but most don't tell you if they have the "medium base" which this lamp requires, although some look as if they do.

Solid finish lamp for an incredible deal. I was looking for a floor lamp that I could use for night reading. Great light and it will be very difficult to find a lamp, of this quality, for this price. Very stable lamp. Only negative is that you may want to double check your height requirements, since it's not a super tall lamp. Again this worked very well for me.

I bought and installed one of these in my office. I was disappointed with the fan's performance, but I've made an easy modification that improved its performance.

First, it should be noted that with only an eight foot ceiling in here I chose to install it in the "hugger" configuration where it mounts directly to the ceiling. My experience may explain why some reviewers said that they got good airflow, while others said that it didn't do much of anything. With very limited spacing above the blades there isn't much room for them to pull from, and this thing just kind of stirs up the air in the room a bit. Standing directly below it while it is running at full blast you'll find very little air flow in either fan direction.

Using the included standoff would probably help, but I still have a relatively low ceiling in here, and don't want to risk injuring any tall friends.

So, I did some reading on ceiling fans, and a high number of blades also has a negative effect on a ceiling fan's capability. The blades interfere with eachother, so that they don't get as much "bite" on the air. Consider what would happen with 10 or 30 blades--the fan begins to resemble a solid disk that wouldn't move air at all. Because it's possible to keep the fan balanced while using only three blades, I decided to try this tonight, and was pleasantly surprised. With only three blades installed (removing every other blade), the fan now produces a nice, steady breeze. I think I'll keep it installed, now that it is working much better.

This makes it a pretty good fan for a low price. Enough whining about the little bulbs, as you can find them at your local hardware store.

We have a 1950's 3Brd 1 Bath house. We use the two smaller rooms as a nursery and a den/office. Both of the smaller rooms would look strange with a standard sized fan, so we decided to get the smallest fan out there. 30 inches seem to be the smallest available. There were 32 inch ones at home depot, but they didn't look as nice as these. So I bought two of the TURBO SWIRL. First, you need to read the directions on how to assemble. If you are too impatient, find another fan. Second, one of the fans seemed to wabble more and make more noise. I returned it and the new one seemed to be fine.

I've had the fans for over a year now and they have been good for us. It's helped alot with the summer heat wave from last year. Just a few days ago, one of the fans started acting up. It was slower than the other and the directional control seemed out of whack. I called westinghouse and they are sending me a replacement capacitor for free. 10-14 business days to arrive. Hopefully, that solves that problem.

Other than that, we've been happy with this compact and fairly quiet fan.

This fan is cute and works fine, pretty quiet, not too wobbly but a real nightmare to instal by yourself. Hanging it and wiring it was no problem, the nightmare began when I put the blades on as it was hanging. You really need a 90 degree angle screwdriver and some needlenosed pliers with a gripping surface or you will suffer horrible frustration and ultimately fail. There are ventilation holes in the housing diabolically positioned so your screws fall into them and cannot be recovered without taking the whole damned thing down and shaking it upside down.

I read the other reviews and was a little concerned about the installation process but I had no problem. You do need patience when installing the fan blades because of the slot you have to put the screwdriver through when attaching them. Also, a round light bulb fits better than the oblong one. Other than that I would have rated this product with 5 stars.

Ordered 2 of the subject items, installed one into one of our guess bed rooms. Works & looks very well, not to mention the ease of installation (just follow the directions if you are not mechanically in depth). With old fan removal + assembly & installation took less than 90 minutes. If you have a room that's 10X10 12X12 this will work wonderfully, mind you these are not for cooling a room just air circulation.

The Wisconsin Accent Lamp is good quality for the price. The one criticism I have is that the lamp requires a low voltage light bulb which doesn't provide much light. I was not aware of this when I purchased the lamp.

We purchased three of these light fixtures to use over our kitchen island. The 10" glass globe size worked perfectly with the size of our island. We purchased the antiqued nickle finish and are very happy with the look. The antiquing is subtle and not cheap looking. The construction quality is excellent. The glass globes are heavy and well made. The metal components are heavy duty and not cheap. Each fixture came with at least 15-20 feet of wire/cord that allowed us to select the amount of wire we wanted to work with. No skimping with the wire. That was a real plus. They were easy to install and came well packaged and protected. All three fixtures arrived in perfect condition within a week of ordering them. The price was incredible! We have absolutely nothing negative to say about these fixtures. We are very happy with them and highly recommend them.
