I bought this light to be the main source of light in my new bathroom. The new wall scones would provide the brighter light near the mirror. The Maxim light is diffused so it is not harsh for those times when you need to turn on the light when you use the bathroom in the middle of the night. You almost don't remember it's up there because it blends in with the ceiling. It was a good buy!
