I wanted a magnifier for building models. What I got was a very well built magnifying lamp with built in lighting which by the way works wonders for my eyesight,given the size of the lens especially when working with small parts. Any one needing a lens/lamp unit for anything small would do well to take a close look at this one. It may be a little bit pricier than others. but I am a firm believer in getting what you pay for,and this was definitely worth every penny!

Unfortunately I had to return this item. It is extremely substantial, however, because of its size and heaviness it will not fit my particular needs. It is very heavy and would require a large heavy table to attach it to. It's well worth the price but perhaps for drafting etc. It's not for doing needlework which is what I need. Great view using both eyes to examine. Securely attaches to most desk and table tops. Elevates to approximately 5" off surface to have object in focus. Powerful magnification and the use of internal light, documents easily viewed. "Powerful" was the key to my purchase. That descriptor applies only to the lens center as focus dissipates toward the edge.Value for the money.
