This lamp is just what I was looking for in a small accent light for my living room. I had two surprises the first time I turned it on. The first surprise was minutes after I took it out of the box and packaging; I plugged it in and after a few seconds all the lights in the neighborhood went out. Nothing to do with the lamp Boston was experiencing the [first][and hopefully last] blizzard of 2011! The power lines were affected by the heavy ice and snow and the high winds, Very dramatic.
The second surprise was the two levels of light. Since the power was out I turned the switch; thinking it would be better to have it off when power was restored. The picture looked nice. But you ca't use cfl in it AND the top where the bulb is screwed on is screwed separately, so the bulb will sit side ways.

While it doesn't have a good decription to let you know it will match the floral tea jars, they do match perfectly. The lampshade should be a little larger, but this can always be purchased at Walmart.
