We installed this critter in the shower wall and am glad we did. It really does work to keep the water temperature from fluctuating when someone flushes the toilet or starts the washing machine or dishwasher. No complaints at all.

I didn't know about these temperature control mixing valve systems until we started planning our major bathroom renovation. The new plumbing code requires temperature limit control to avoid accidental burns from full-on hot water. The rough-in valve is used in combination with the separately purchased Posi-temp valve trim kit and this rough-in valve includes stops. Stops allow the hot and/or cold water feeds to be turned off so that the cartridge can be replaced without shutting off the water further upstream or to the entire house. Neat thing is that the stops work as intended since I installed the trim kit and needed to shut off the water to make an installation correction.I bought the sweat-on valve (also comes screwed) and had it installed by the plumber who did our rough-in work. Then, after installing the trim kit, I set the temperature limit per the accompanying instructions. No problems and really like the combined system. Great temperature control without fear of too hot.
