A large and solid lamp with ample glass shades and good light diffusion through the shades. I wasn't too crazy about the design on the base of the lamp (a kind of petal ornament), and for some reason, the very last end of the wire near the top of the lamp could not be pulled through the entire tubular stand, as the rest of the cord had been, so we had to bunch that part of it into the top section of the stand. Nevertheless, despite these objections, the lamp is quite beautiful and useful.

We needed a lamp for our (extremely) dark living room. After reading the reviews, I chose this one. As others have noted, the packaging for this lamp was the best packaging I've ever seen-extremely well packaged, yet pretty easy to get open. I managed to put the lamp together, by myself, in about six minutes, without reading the directions. I am NOT good at putting things together, so this speaks volumes for the ease of assembly. The lamp is heavy (nice if you have kids who tend to run through the room), but really pretty. The light it puts out is clean and well dispersed, and I love the fact that the lower lamp is adjustable. I read and work with student papers a lot, and the reading lamp makes this process so much easier. The lamp is really nice looking. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and I'd recommend this lamp highly, particularly if you're looking to light a dark space.

I bought this lamp after looking online for a functional, nice-looking lamp for my study. I have bought a few of these kinds of lamps over the past couple of yeasr, and overall it's about an average lamp.

PROS:

The glass in the lamp has a beautiful design swirl design making the piece look very elegant when turned "on".

The additional small lamp is movable so is very functional.

CONS:

The large lamp is difficult to turn on or off, especially off after the lamp has been on for quite sometime. The knob is quite small and difficult to grip, so I ended up having to put a piece of tape on the knob to make it easier to turn the lamp off hence 3 stars only.

Overall, this lamp looks nice, but for the price, you should be able to find a lamp that looks as nice and is easier to turn on and off.

This lamp is heavy, substantial, and well designed. The shipping package is superb and protects the lamp components very well, and assembly is easy and straightforward. The brushed steel finish is flawless, and the extremely heavy base is embossed with a nice decoration instead of just being plain. The swirled white glass globes are also quite heavy and provide excellent diffusion for the lights. It uses a regular 3-way bulb for the upper light (with a regular socket so you are not forced to use a CFL bulb) and the lower adjustable reading lamp uses a regular bulb as well. The upper lamp provides nicely diffused general lighting in a room, while the reading lamp can be adjusted to put light exactly where you want it. The design and weight of this floor lamp make it quite stable and unlikely to be knocked over.

I bought one for our family room and liked it so well that I soon purchased another for the sitting area in our bedroom. We have been very happy with both of them, as you can have as much room light as you want out of the upper lamp, and the lower flexible-arm lamp is at precisely the right height to be used next to a comfortable chair for reading a newspaper or book.

Note that these lamps come in several finishes, so while brushed steel matched our decor there are a variety of other finishes and colors that may be a better match for you. If this is the style you're looking for, the quality of this lamp ought to satisfy you.

For the price, this is really a very nice lamp. I noticed as soon as I lifted the box from my front stoop that it was HEAVY. Putting it together took about 5 minutes. The globes are heavy, frosted glass, tastefully etched. It really is a quality lamp, probably rivaling similar lamps that cost much more. One note on the reading lamp. The warnings say to use a 40w maximum bulb. I saw in at least one review here that a 60w bulb would be fine. I tried one and found that I just didn't need that much light since the reading lamp part of the lamp is right over my right shoulder. Another nice feature is that the main lamp takes a 3-way bulb. Most of the "Mother Daughter" floor lamps take single wattage bulbs. I highly recommend this lamp, and bravo Amazon for getting it to me in less than 48 hours.
