I bought 3 of these to replace the 1954 builder-grade lights in my entry and hallway. One of my requirements in choosing a light is that I wanted as low a profile as possible. My entry and hallway only has a 7 foot ceiling because that is where the ducting for most of the house runs. The description states that the light is 8" wide by 2.75" deep. The actual item is 3.5" deep, so my linen closet door still doesn't clear! Overall though, I am still pleased with the light. I did gain 3.5" in additional headroom. Another difference from the description is that instead of the shade clips having a pattern of 3 spiral circles, there is only one circle (1.5" in diameter). This light takes a 120 volt GY6.35 bi-pin base, up to 100 watt halogen bulb, which is mentioned nowhere in the instructions or on the box. Shipping was prompt and the light was priced well compared to other possibilities that I considered.
