Brilliant white light that allows me to use my Nikon stereo microscope at high magnifications at last!
In fact, it's so intense that you don't have to have the bulbs very close to the subject. Don't look into these beams! When directed at the ceiling, or at a wall, or even at a building across the way, you'll see clear discs of light; this thing is really powerful. In fact, I'm going to use it to throw some hot spots here and there to make my photography look more interesting too. For other tasks, such as eyeballing a bit or a tool tip, it's just too bright.
Build and feel are very good. The lights switch on and off by the lightest touch, and when turned off there are pretty red rings at the base. These not only direct your attention to the on/off switches, but look great too.
Buying items like these can be a crapshoot because there's just a photo to go on. This product here makes up for several really crap products that I was dumb enough to buy recently. Highly recommended.I do a lot of micro electronics repair under microscope, and fine detail painting on miniature models. This light has helped quite a bit with both. The only thing holding this back from a perfect 5 is that there is no intesity adjust. Reflective objects can look TOO bright.
