The Lutron Maestro dimmer and Pico controller were an excellent buy. I have just moved into a new house and realize that the only switch to turn on the breakfast room light, was on the opposite wall, about 20 feet from the kitchen (which is where I normally would be entering the breakfast area from). So rather than having to rewire the existing switch to run 3 way wiring, not to mention working in a 140 degree attic, this was the best solution I could find. And after having it for about a month, I am 100% satisfied.

All you do is replace your existing single pole switch with the Maestro switch a simple 3 wire installation (white, black and ground no red wire needed). Then you choose your location for the Pico controller it comes with the base to secure it to the wall, which can then be surrounded by a normal switch plate to match the rest of the house. It comes with 3 options for the Pico controller a wall mount, a car visor adapter (like a garage remote control) and a simple flat cover if you choose to simply use it as a mobile remote. I've also seen an optional desk mount but thats not in this package.

After choosing your mounting option for the Pico remote, you then just need to link the remote to the wall switch which was as simple as holding the wall switch for a few seconds and then pressing some of the buttons on the remote.

I was surprised that the remote actually does more than expected. There are 5 buttons on the remote. Top button is on at 100%. Bottom button is Off. Then the middle round button actually turns the light on at 50%. And then the buttons above and below the middle circle are incremental dimming up and down. I find myself using the middle circle button 90% of the time, since 50% light output is perfect for my 300 watt halogen light fixture I have this connected to.

One last feature, is that the remote has incredible range. Just for testing purposes, I walked to the opposite side of my houseabout 75 feet from the switch location, and the remote worked. So the idea of using this in your car, to turn on lights as you come home is not out of the question the range was impressive.

I would (and already have) recommended this switch and remote to others.

I have a total of three of these switches in my home. Two in the living room and one in the bedroom. Installation is simple and the lights function well.

As stated in other reviews, these switches do not work with CFLs at all, not even the dimable ones that most other dimmers work with. Not sure why but it works fine with halogen lights which is what I am using.

The switch is fantastic in the living room as I can sit on the couch and dim the lights to watch a movie, and great in the bedroom as I can turn the lights off without getting out of the warm bed.

I do wish that they made a remote which could control multiple lights, but even as is the product is fantastic.

600-Watt (W) Rated Load

The rated load of the dimmer is 600 watts i.e. the total wattage of all the light bulbs controlled by the dimmer should not exceed 600 watts. Some manufacturers advise against exceeding 80% of the rated load, but this Lutron dimmer is designed to handle 100% of the rated load. I am very dismayed at Lutron's price versus value statement they make with this obsolete product. For this kind of money to have it only compatible with incandescent loads is a real travesty.

$70 down the drain on this dimmer. Would expect better customer support on this over priced product but that's not the case. I was told that since I used the dimmer with LED lights and it doesn't specifically say it can be used with LEDs, I am not eligible for a warranty replacement. Make sure this finicky dimmer is right for your application before dropping $... If you're not an electrification or very knowledgeable about electrical circuits, I would make a strong recommendation to look elsewhere.

Update Amazon customer support on the other had was great! They noted the error on Lutron's part not supplying information about this product's incompatibility with LED and issued me a refund. Good job Amazon...
