The quality of the light is exceptional, very close in color to an incandescent soft white bulb. I've had this running in a torchiere lamp at the 20 watt setting for several hours and it was never warmer than uncomfortable to the touch. The light distribution is very much omnidirectional, and it should provide no dead spots if used in place of the equivalent incandescent lamp. I'll report back in a few months and let you know how it ages.

I have purchased many different LED bulbs over the past 3 years or so. While I am admittedly a bt of an LED addict I also think I've gained some knowledge and experience through trial and error. Until this bulb I've been unable to find a 3 way bulb. Yes there are LED bulbs that will work on a dimmer, but no other 3 ways.This bulb is pricey but magnificent. The fact that it's a 3 way is very convenient. The color is pleasing, brightness is appropriate at each level with plenty of light at its highest setting. I see these are out of stock and and am hoping they didn't give up on manufacturing 3 ways!
