December 4, 2012. I just installed the Heath Zenith SL-4370 post lamp with 360 degree motion activation. The antique silver finish and beveled glass look great. When mounted on a 3" post it was not exactly a good fit. The base is larger than 3 inches and leaves about a 1/4" gap all around the fixture where it joins the vertical post. There, three set screws are used to clamp the light to the post. In my installation the sensor is centered at about 6 feet above ground which is within the unit specifications of 4 to 7 feet. I ran motion tests during the day after mounting and used the Test Mode. I couldn't get the fixture to activate until I waved my hand about 3 inches from the sensor. I set the sensor to MAX and got a similar result. I waited until nightfall to test again and was able to get it to turn on to full bright(in Dual Bright mode)only when I approached from one side. I had previously walked down the main walkway which runs to within 4 feet of the post and then I made a left turn and walked down the sidewalk without activation. I then approached back down the same sidewalk and it finally came on.

My only other gripe would be the system for bulb changing. About 8 round slotted nuts with a textured side are hand tightened to the 8 posts that protrude from the bottom of the upper glass fixture. You then lift the upper part off for bulb access. I would strongly suggest a very long lasting incandescent bulb of 100 watts or less. My St. Augustine grass that grows around the pole will gobble any dropped screw or nut in an instant and you will never find it again.

In summary this is a very nice looking and well made product with a few flaws. The fit to the post, the limited sensitivity of the motion sensor and the bulb changing process are its weaknesses.

The best word to describe this lamp post light is "pretty". Its finish is shiny and the six sides of glass provide lots of opportunity for the light to sparkle. It could be a tiny bit bigger but that's only because I bought for my garage the wall lights that go with it and they're 14" big! I looked for 2 years because I wanted something that came in a set (wall and lamp post), had wall lights you could change from the bottom (not have to take the top off) and something you don't see all over your neighborhood. This fits the bill and was reasonably priced.
