We have a contemporary taste which limits our choices most reasonably priced light fixtures are very traditional in style. We liked the look of this product line, the energy saving features and the price was not bad compared to similar products. We have a large property and I bought 10 of the post lanterns and 9 of the wall mounted lights of the same line in different sizes, and have had them for 6 months now.

While the product is well packaged, several of the items arrived with shattered glass. Amazon replaced all of them with no fuss. also several had broken CFL bulbs, which I replaced myself.

All the units installed without any problems, worked fine, all the parts fit nicely.

I had to contact support after 3 months to inquire about replacement glass for one of the post lanterns for an unknown reason it shattered. not sure if a bird or something hit it or what. they were responsive but would not send me one for free, they pointed me to web sites selling replacement glass ($25 for the part + $15 for shipping).

I am only giving the product 3 starts for 2 reasons -

1) The black paint on the units has a matte finish that already looks a bit faded and stained after 6 months in the elements. after spending so much money, I hoped the fixtures will look very nice for a few years at least and they do not.

2) The 2 small screws that are provided to fasten the top of the lantern to the base are of poor quality. They will rust and one broke in its hole when I tried to unscrew it to check a bulb. I suggest using WD40 and not over tighten them so you will not have an issue changing bulbs a year later.

The first one of these I got didn't work. I had to send it back for another. There is not much too the "electronics" and it is hard to understand why it didn't work. I did notice that the green ground screw on the mounting plate was missing, so that was a bad sign to start with.

The second one show up, had the green ground screw and since i had experience hanging the first one, it took less than 10 minutes for me to get this one up and working.

And it is beautiful. Everyone comments on it.

Besides the first one just not working, there is something else to note. There is a light sensor in the middle of the black plate that mounts on the wall. You can tape it, so it works like a "normal" light with on/off capabilities. But for now, I just leave the switch on and it comes on a little after dark and shuts off a little after dawn. The first non-working one I got did NOT have the light sensor.

4 stars because the first one just didn't work that tells me poor quality control. Also, I might not have ordered it if I knew it had a light sensor which is not mentioned anywhere in the description. Maybe there is a model with the light sensor listed and that is what Amazon sent me the second time. I just don't know.
