I wanted a flush mount light for our family room that was truly flush mounted, i.e. I didn't want a gap where bugs could get in, get trapped, and die. This light does the job. It's contemporary looking and very bright. It's our main light for the family room. It also uses 3 incandescent bulbs, which is a plus for us. We did not want fluorescent or halogen.We are very happy with the look of this light fixture, esp. at this price point!
