I was surprised how bright it really is, very happy with the coverage. This is my first solar security light and I'm impressed. Installation was quick and easy. I let it charge for 4 days before using it and it is working fine. The range is not quite 70 ft but it might just be the angle I have it set at. It is constructed of light plastic, I wouldn't guarantee it to last if it is completely exposed to the elements, if it is placed under the overhang of the roof that should do. The screws provided for mounting the light are garbage. Be prepared to provide your own screws. All in all I am pleased with its performance so far. Great little light.

I've had this light for about a year and a half, and it has gone through 2 batteries (the original, and one replacement that just went dead). I don't think that the charging system on this unit is very sophisticated; it might just run the PV panel output into the battery with no regulation whatsoever. A person might pull the battery every couple months and put it on a decent charger to extend its life. I'm just going to get a DC regulator and wire it into my main PV system. Other than the battery life problem, it took a fair amount of troubleshooting and adjustment (and a 'light shield' that I had to contact the manufacturer to get) to get the motion sensor to work reliably. It is very bright, though, and seems solidly constructed. Manufacturer tech support is quite helpful, too.

I previously had the incandescent style, single bulb, by Heath. This one is much brighter. However, the housing is not water proof, at least in Florida. I have mine in an exposed area and I taped all of the seams on the top. There is a drain hole in the bottom. The old style lasted about a 1.5 years before the batteries died and plastic turned yellow. The motion sensor does not have a very good range, typical of these lights. Overall I like the LEDs but I wish the construction was more robust.
